Seemed inevitable given his “It's just a dirt bike race“ comment earlier this year, and the difficulty he faced trying to hang on to championship as the season progressed. Another season would have been a real grind and he wouldn't be the favorite. Congrats to him on earning a spot among the all-timers in Supercross.

I would've at least expected him to run another Motocross season first, although since the last one ended two months early with a broken back it's probably for the best. If the spark's gone, it's gone. I would never fault anybody for moving on from something they're not passionate about, even if they once were.

Life and peace of mind will be a little better retiring on the top. I have always liked this move.

Tomac is 25 next season. He has to get it done next year.

Those guys are warriors and it is a young man's game. Chad Reeds longevity is an amazing thing.
