The Queen of the Nürburgring has left us.

Sabine Schmitz won the 24-hour-race in 1996 and 1997 and the VLN championship in 1998.
She is also well-known for her appearances on Top Gear, including the one in 2005 when she lapped the Nordschleife in 10:08 minutes with a Ford Transit. She became one of the show's hosts in 2016.
She battled cancer since 2017, already beat it once and actually returned to racing in 2019 but the cancer relapsed.

R.I.P.

Sabine Schmitz: 'Queen of the Nurburgring' dies aged 51 (motorsport.com)

Terribly sad and shocking, didn’t know she was ill. She deserves to have her name somewhere at the Ring.

She loved, breathed, and lived racing.

What an amazing character she was, I've seen a lot of videos of her giving the M5 taxi hell with passengers and the absolute joy of it all.

Man this sucks, RIP to Sabine.
