Saudi Utility Vehicles

I agreed with the fact that a lot of people who own SUV's don't really need them........but, maybe the "unnecessary" part that you included that I was addressing. It just does not matter why they own them, they can have them for whatever reason they choose. Necessary or unnecessary........why is that relevant? Your argument has been gas guzzling, environmentally unfriendly and they cause you problems in parking lots. The PC part is that because smaller more economical cars or trucks are "better for everyone". I'm not throwing the term around loosely........it is politically correct to be for smaller cars, more economy, and environmentally friendly. You suggested we look the term up........maybe you should follow that advice.:)

I just thought being for smaller cars was being more economical...but if you need to call it PC so that you can be against it, feel free.

Point made and accepted.:) Nothing wrong with being economical. Nothing wrong with owning an SUV.:)

I don't like SUV's..I don't like the new cars today..I like mine just fine..it is old and I don't care..it runs........gets me from point A to point B.........
and I don't give a rats you know what about being PC either........who cares........:D :D :D
I'm me..and if no one likes it..........well tough you know what:D :D

just my 2 cents.............:p

oh and one more thing too..........I cannot stand people sitting in tree's to save them either...we had some a**hole here sitting in a tree so they wouldn't cut it down...who cares about the oak trees, I don't..........
boy I'm on a roll............ :D

I care about trees. I just got a backyard in my new place and am going to plant some apple trees, and take good care of my lawn. Green is hard to come by in this neck of the concrete jungle. :)

But I also think that there are priorities, and if we as a species need more wiggle room what they hell else are we supposed to do... live underground? I never understood what these people wanted...they want to make a statement about conserving the environment that's fine...but they offer no solution...all the do is make empty statements to get themselves on TV. If they aren't part of the solution they are part of the problem.

But again, if it comes down to either myself or some tree...it's gonna be the tree.

Smaller cars aren't necessarily more econimical. I've told you about my 4 cyclinder cars that got crap for milage. Here's another thing. Back in the 70's when we had our first gas crunch, and it was something, President Ford had the speed limits lowered to 55 mph. The cars at that time were designed to get the best performance at speeds of 65 to 70. I noticed a big drop in milage when I slowed to 55 mph. The point I'm making here is gas milage is not the real reason people hate these vehicles. We've seen right here in this thread the real reason...size, status symbol, need, etc. Gas is just the latest reason to get people worked up.

Unless you are driving in rough terrain (i.e. snow, mountains,e tc) - why have an SUV? Why not just get a van or station wagon?

T-Bird....my guess is because it's a "I can do whatever I damn well want" kind of thing...as we can see in this thread.

To a large extent, Paul, you are absolutely correct!! But, that's our nature in this country.......part of the reason we like it here.:D

And concern with that attitude is the reason my generation hopes to be able to stay here. :)

thats exactly what this guy did...he was on tv constantly........court finally ordered him down, he is still trying to appeal...he held up the contractor workers etc......they want to build a road so they need to get rid of the damned tree, they also agreed to move the tree and not chop it down and this whacko...said it would kill it......
I like tree's too.......but this was a little extreme...:(
well, john Quigley made a name for himself thats all.....

And that's all he cared about too, you're right QT.

Didn't I see shots of him up in the tree talking on a cell phone??

oh yeah..he had cell phone, he had food, his followers brought him whatever his little heart desired.........what a whacko......:D

You saw him in a tree talking on a cell, signing autographs, doing press conferrences......a load of publicity stuff. Probably cost that contractor millions with all the delays and moving of the tree that he did not include in his bid for the project. Lots of construction types were laid off.........that doesn't get reported.:(
