Obviously I've never been to the track myself, so was wondering if anyone has a certain section that they would recommend. Taking the girlfriend and her 12 year old son to the 600 and want to make sure they have a good experience.

If you can afford it and seats are available, Ford Upper Terrace, New Veranda, Veranda, Grand National Tower in that order. I'm a guy who doesn't like to be on the S/F line because it rarely offers a good view of the entire track.

Use the pay lot at the southwest corner of US29 and Morehead Road for quickest exit.

Thanks any certain sections?

No but if you can get Upper Terrace, sit all the way at the bottom. Otherwise go as high as possible, as usual.
Is the upper terrace the one really up high near the pit exit area.

I believe that is what I had in 2001. I remember a lady losing it when she got to her seat and turned around.
She panicked over the elavation. I walked her down to the ushers and they found her somewhere else to set.

Dad and I saw that a Panthers game once. As they were ascending, the young lady kept telling her guy, "We're too high! WE'RE TOO HIGH!" Their seats turned out to be one row down from the top. They didn't last past the anthem.

What @Charlie Spencer said, for sure!!!

Ended up getting the new veranda, section 238. Wasn't sure how the kid would do up in the Ford Terrace.

Thanks for the input!

So we're staying at the residence inn just outside of the track. Looks like it's about 1.5 miles from the track. Is it even worth trying to drive into the track? Not a fan of walking but I imagine the drive would take longer

There won't be any shade walking to the track and probably 85F and humid. Darling Bride and I would do it but we're used to it. Maybe the three of you could take a test walk?

I'm sure will as we're getting there Wednesday so we can do some other stuff for them.

I just got to Leeds this afternoon when the race let out at barber and I'm pretty sure I could walk faster.

At some intersections, the Highway Dept. holds the auto traffic for up to 20 minutes after the race and lets the pedestrians go.

A mile and a half is not that far to walk, I would probably walk. I wouldn't want to deal with parking if I was that close. If your fully against walking maybe take an Uber.

New Veranda is awesome. If you can live with not being able to take a cooler in (sucks to have to buy drinks all night), then Club Deck is even better. It’s above the New Veranda. Great seats with great views of entire track. Club Deck and Ford Upper Terrace are THE seats to get if you go back for Roval and want to see the whole track. Sitting high up in Chrysler sections off 4 isn’t terrible either, I just don’t like seeing the cars going away from me to the s/f line.

You’re going to appreciate the shade come race time. Enjoy!!! There’s a sand “beach club” to the right going into turn 1 her daughter may find neat. I still don’t know what it actually is to be honest. 🤣.

You can't bring drinks on the new veranda? I thought that was just the club deck?

Edit: looks like you can't. Oh well, only take vacation once a year

I think you can to new Veranda, just not to Club Deck. I swear I remember bringing a cooler to Veranda and New Veranda but it’s been a few years…
