Anyone in the upper midwest, watch the weather.

From Texas Storm Chasers

Severe damage in Washington, IL (just east/northeast of Peoria, IL). The National Guard was just requested to respond to the town.

Bill Bunting, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said one tornado was already reported shortly after noon in Peoria, Ill. The National Weather Service reported that the twister was moving northeast at about 55 miles per hour.

A Peoria TV station went off the air for a while --- station sustained roof damage.

Oh damn, not more bad news concerning weather.

Texas Storm Chasers
Brookport, IL (a stones throw north of Paduach, KY) has taken a direct hit from a tornado. Two mobile home parks were directly impacted with at least 50 mobile homes destroyed. There are numerous injuries. Search and Rescue Underway. This is from the storm we talked about a bit earlier that was moving towards Paduach. -DavidR

Damn mobile homes parks... Hope it's better than it sounds.

Nick says he is okay. Sam, the old owner of the forums before Fury, took some good hits. Have a few other friends in the zone as well, all but one has reported back and she was posting during the storm.

Have a friend up in IL, haven't heard from him all day. I hope he's okay. :(

we got hit here in southeast cheeseland. We had trees down, power lines down and flooded streets. No injuries to people and no fatalities. Power is on, trees are being cleared, and most of the streets are almost passable. We were the lucky ones. Folks south of us got it much worse. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

The upside to all of this is the fact that for several days, it was well known that these storms WOULD develop and it was well know WHERE they would develop. The fact that a lot of people were prepared for this likely saved many lives!

We got it pretty rough around here. Some overturned cars, storefronts blown completely out, many downed trees and the damage they caused. As bad as it got for us personally was we lost our satellite signal for a few minutes is about it. We were blessed.

2guys from another forum have reported in from ILL, Lots of damage but they and their families made it ok.

I witnessed a tornado when I was in Kansas. My wife is from So Cal and experienced earthquakes. All things considered we'll take hurricanes.

I don't know, man. I've never been in a hurricane, but I've seen the aftereffects first hand. Hurricane Hugo looked like something I wanted no part of when I was there 6 months after it happened. At least you have a warning of those, though. Earthquakes just kind of happen and just really suck. I've never been in a really bad one and I have no desire to, either.

That's the key, a warning, with a hurricane we have at least a day's warning if not 2 or more. It doesn't "just happen" with no advance warning.

Got a little nasty here in NW Tennessee last night, but nowhere near what they had in IL, IN, and WI.

I completely missed the news and had no idea there were such storms. That's what happens when I zone out for a weekend. o_O
