Should blocking be illegal?

The car in front can't cause a wreck. You said it Mario couldn't pass there so he shouldn't have tried. He ended up wrecking himself and Graham in the process. He is at fault for making a dumb move IMO

I guess our opinions are opposite then, which is all fine and dandy. It looked to me like Graham intentionally turned right into the path of the faster car (he admitted as much), which led to the incident. Whether Marco was making a brilliant maneuver or a dumb move is of no consequence. The front car caused that particular wreck - again, in MY opinion.

I also think that Carl Edwards was to blame for the incident which sent his car soaring into the catch fence. Some people still blame Brad. Tu-may-to, tu-mah-to

I couldn't care less what they do in the open wheel ranks but as far as NASCAR goes, sure let em block. Let them also be ready to suffer the consequences. There's no need for any more subjective rules in NASCAR. Fans have long complained about the yellow line blocking rules at the restrictor plate tracks, I can't imagine if those same rules were opened up to include the entire track @ every track.

Re-read Stewart fans question. It IS about NASCAR, and it's a great question.

Just because you reference Marcos Ambrose in the preamble , doesn't make the national elections in Austrailia a Nascar related topic. Even so , read the posts , there are very few about Nascar.

well, you're not helping at all.

robbybee will be so proud!

Unless that lap car is racing another for the "Lucky Dog", the stupidest thing ever, he should get the f out of the way immediately.

IMO, that guy should be racing the guy in front of him, not the race leader. Let the leader go and fall in behind and try and follow him through the field of back markers. If you can't do that, too friggin bad. Back in the day, the race leader wouldn't put up with that crap.

Okay , time for a mod to get this open wheel crap off of the Nascar forum and onto some obscure open wheel forum.

I had to laff when I read this! While technically true, the question of blocking in auto racing does cross some rather incendiary borders from time to time - and the comparisons between the rules of different series can be appropriate. In this case, I think that they are.

Still, a great post, Teddie!

I'm talking about a guy trying to catch the 2nd,3rd, 10th whatever car and a lap car holds him up allowing that car in position in front of him to get away. A lap car should never interfere with the outcome of a race or finishing positions of cars in front of him on the lead lap.. Lets just say, hmm, montoya held Tony up in just one race and Tony lost the championship by one point. Do you think Tony would have given juan a severe beating about the head and shoulders or not? Just askin:) '

Depends. Was Juan Problemo's teammate leading at the time, with Smoke closing hard on him for the win in the final laps?

Cause you know that Tony would have been blocking Problemo if Newman was in the lead...

I'm just throwing monkey wrenches at this point, BTW...

Tony did exactly what you described. He raced Keselowski real hard to try and keep the lucky dog. That allowed the 2nd place car to catch up to him. For the record, I think Juan would kick Tony's ass.

You know that this issue has been a part of all forms of racing since day one ,right ? Many years before you guys were born , they even invented something they called , the move over flag , to address the issue . It's too bad that some folks think of this is as new issue that Nascar needs to deal with . It is not a new issue and it is dealt with .

The blocking issue is as old as racing - not just motor racing. Did y'all ever see Ben Hur? LOLOL
And I do not know Eva but I know who she is...

Should blocking be illegal? No.
Should punting blockers out of the way be illegal? No.
Should whining about getting punted be illegal? Yes.

Dad used to tell me " If you can't get to their bumper their not blocking you....If you can get to their bumper Move Them outta the way" after a couple times they don't try and block you anymore.
