Should NASCAR team owners be allowed to vote on major changes?

Too bad NASCAR is a private company, if it became public, then shareholders can have a say.

It is kind of like Murphys Golden Rule:
"He who has the gold makes the rules"

IE: The France family has the Gold so they make the rules.

The last thing you want is a bunch of owners running the show, hell, that would be like herding cats for gods sake, as stated earlier, it killed CART.
Yep a pure dictatorship is best in this case. It is their series and their rules if you do not like either, well, go play somewhere else.

I feel like I'm about the only one on here that's happy with where this sports at. I'm loving the racing I've been watching. I enjoyed the hell out of the Chase. Long term television contracts in place for me to watch this sport for a long time to come. The only thing I have s problem with is that there's no race this Sunday. Soon to be rectified.

We already do. I think that's what they call ticket sales and television ratings. ;)

That is logical, but I can't whole heartedly agree. That is to much of an all or nothing proposition, to on or off, black or white.

Nobody offers a comparable product, which is nationally televised oval track racing with bodies that at least try to remotely look like stock cars.

Simply stated if you want to watch this kind of racing and the drivers we have followed for years. If you want to watch it in person, or on TV you are locked into Nascar or the Sprint Cup Series.
A person may despise the way the product is managed, the constant point changes among other things, but it is still the only game in town.

The heaichy also controls the venues and awards dates on profitability alone. For example Kentucky and Homestead were not Nascar Cup worthy venues until the right people owned them, no serious consideration for the non France empire. A creativity killer to say the least that stimulate a closed inbred loop. Hence the disproportionate cookie cutters rule the circut, and reflect the limits of those in charge.
Awarding those dates had very very little to do with loving the product and wanting an event at a track with character.

Those are realities that a Nascar fan just has to accept, but it doesn't mean they like the direction.
It is the only game in town for many of us.

I love racing and especially oval short track racing. Nascar has helped the cause, but the effort often seems more like the work of a mercenary with no real passion for the actual product. And to remove all doubt, yes I do find Brian France despicable. I support any and all mutinys against him.

Blast from the past.....

I've been looking at some of the threads/posts from a year ago. Funny how views change over time. This was a great pre-RTA thread started by @ToyYoda
I was wondering why some of these were bubbling up to the top.

Oh, and the conversations on NASCAR.com are why I started searching for a place like this.

The RTA is still an embryo, it has no legs, arms, head or mouth so it is in development stages and won't be heard from for a little while yet.

This is an interesting subject at least for me. The old man pulled a bluff and kicked out those who wanted a union of sorts and he made it stick.
If Brian tried to do the same to HMS, SHR, Penske, Childress and JGR today, his sister would have no choice but fire him. Brian owns no part of Nascar, he is a CEO only.
I doubt we will hear very much from the RTA unless some media gets to flapping their gums in which case they could lose their credentials at the gate. The RTA will work very quietly in the background and they will get their way in many things but being very smart men, they will give all the credit to Brian. This is all about making money for the big guys and all about saving face by Brian.

A lesson was learned in CART where the owners ran the series. A few dominate teams had more power than the others. When they told Indy how the 500 was to be run it ended up splitting the series, Indycar vs. CART.

Teams owners foot the bills with sponsor bucks. A new rule from the brain makes millions of dollars of inventory obsolete. Should the owners run the series? No but they should have a major impact on changes. Changing ride or spoiler height doesn't impact nascar financially, it certainly does for the owners.
