Should Racing Be An Olympic Sport?

No. Bobsledding and skull or whatever that crazy sled is shouldn't be either. Too much engineering involved IMO. Almost all winter should be removed. And anything judges should too.

No, I think the Olympics should be about one's abilities while minimizing technical advantages. (Even the clothes are have technical advantages now).

Paul Menard would win everything then. Does anyone know if he still ice races in the winter?

I don't know but I am a big fan of ice racing and wish Nascar could bring dirt and ice to its series to help break the monotony of a long season.

Nascar is NOT a sport, it is a business just as race teams are a business.
Sheeesh, tough to find something to talk about with these foolish ideas.

Need to keep wimmins figure skating. The artistic mastery and flexibility they possess and present is a spiritual thing to watch

No

On a side note, are the Olympics over yet ?

One more thing, no drivers are going to take time away from their series for the Olympics. At least I don't think they would.

Like ROC, but for the Olympics?

That not a bad idea, but it would be very expensive to develop an open-wheel and closed wheel cars specifically for the Olympics. This is only every four years as well, so the expense would be pretty high.

They haven't even started yet. I can't wait. Looks like NBC's gonna put most everything on live this year on NBC, NBCSN, USA and MSNBC.
Yeah, I know they havent started yet, I was trying to indicate that I care less for the Olympics.

I'm a huge fan of both auto racing and the Olympics but I'm not a fan of auto racing as an Olympic sport. At least not in the traditional form. If they were to add it to the Summer Olympics, I'd like to see it run like ROC, Race of Champions. It's a great format for watching drivers compete head to head. Heck, I'd love to see NASCAR adopt that form of racing for its All_Star format.

As much as I love auto racing, no it shouldn't be in the Olympics. Too much politics involved, and probably too hard to come to an agreement on car configuration and rules and tracks.
Not sure that auto racing is universal enough for the Olympics anyway. Baseball got dropped because too few countries participate, although they say it might come back.
IROC was a good venue for this, but it died out due to lack of interest (by fans) and because it became mostly NASCAR type cars on NASCAR tracks and so dominated by NASCAR drivers.

I appreciate all of the various sports in the Olympics (although I don't watch all of them). But it seems to be getting out of hand. Maybe they should go back to just the sports of the original Greek Olympics.

I think it'd be awesome to see them use sprint cars. Imagine the best formula one, NASCAR and Indy drivers all facing off. Would be epic

Yes the iroc model would be perfect. each car would be painted in the nation's flag . I have extra pull because I am advocating bowling to be a sport in 2020. I am beginning a career in bowling.
