SMI willing to give up a date for Kentucky

Darlington is VERY distinctly different. And champ weekend isn't on Labor Day. I'm thinking more along the lines of melding tradition into the fold. By taking a long standing, formerly prestigious race, and make it count for something again, all the better.

Think of it from a money perspective.

Where does everyone want to spend Winter Vacation? No better place than in South Beach.

Add in NASCAR...:D

There in lies the problem with Nascar. Throwing out tradition completely in search of more money....

It's simply the new tradition since 02'. IMO there's not much wrong with that. People no longer seem to want to support Atlanta. :beerbang:

But I'm not talking about Atlanta, I'm talking about Darlington.

OK, then I'll admit that you had me confused when your original reply was about the final race of the year at Homestead / South Beach. I didn't put that together with Darlington.

Hey come on don't you enjoy that traffic jam on Sunday afternoon? I would never go to see a Cup race at NHIS for two reasons: 1. traffic is a nightmare unless you are doing the Bus or limo thing. 2. this is the most important one, the racing isn't that good. The Nationwide, Trucks, and especially the Modifieds are much better racing than the Cup cars.......

Even taking a bus or limo is a nightmare. If you go up for 3 days there's nothing to do there nights except sit around the campfire like they did in that scene from Blazing Saddles eating beans,,,,,, and drinking beer.
I haven't been since they re-did the track and new banking but before it was single file, follow the leader racing. The Mods DO put on a hellofa show though.
Yes, we in the NE are starved for racing, next closest track is Dover, and due to that NHIS will probaly continue to sellout.
How bad is it? I'll tell ya. Friend works for a auto body shop supply company (think Dupont) Two years ago I turned down 2 tickets, freebies, that included the hospitality tent and pit passes.

So, who started the drift here? How we go from Kentucky to tracks ive never heard of.
South Beach isn't a track. It's part of Miami Beach - a ton of movie shoots been done there. A ton of nightclubs on the beach..... let's just put it this way:

What happens in South Beach stays in South Beach :growl: :growl:

Now i would of gone for that, but I do understand not going, the place is stuck in the middle of no where NH.
