I'm so jacked, the sooner it starts snowing, the sooner I can hit the slopes. I was about tired of the "fall" look anyhow. The trees are bare and everything is dead, I'll take a nice white landscape if it ain't gonna be green. Supposed to get 2 inches tonight, tain't much, but it's a start.

BRRRRRRRRRRRR, hate snow now that I have lived in GA for 8+ years after living in New England for better than 50 years!

Can't wait for it either mlitefan. I broke my knee skiing years back and never was able to get back into it, but have always loved winter.

I love snow. :)

However, there's a big difference between snow in the city and snow in the country. I liked it a lot more when I lived upstate.

Unless we get 2+ feet of snow here in NYC, it takes maybe twenty minutes for it to turn into mushy, black sludge.

Ouch!! Have you thought of trying any other winter sports? Tearin' around on a nice 600 sled is just about as much fun, plus, unless you really crash, it don't hurt as bad. :)

That sounds fun. You've got it made in Montana though, that state is just awesome.

Hey, this wouldn't happen to be the hat you have would it?

As I type this, a mixture of rain and small flakes are falling here in cheeseheadland. I really like the colors and the falling leaves, but by the end of the week they may be covered in a very thin layer of white. I am not a winter fan. I'm to clumsy to do any of those winter sports, so I'll just brew a pot of tea and sit back and watch.:)

Sorry, that's not the hat I've got. The one I have is orange,I think it's one of the more common ones. I'll snap a shot of it tonight and get it over to you. I'll probably let ya have it for nothin if you don't have it. I kinda gave up on the hat collection. Just don't have the room for them, and there really is too many to try and collect more than 1 driver. As for Montana and having it made, you could say that. There is always something to do outside, if you can handle the weather extremes

I took a train from Tacoma, WA to Springfield, MA once and the ride through Montana was awesome. The whole state takes up an entire time zone and is beautiful.

No you know why they dropped the speed limit here. (consequently they reinstated) It takes forever to get from one end of the state to the other. I have to drive for 5 hours just to see my kid!

Whitefish is the Montana equivalent to Aspen. We have been getting the rich folks moving in here form California. I couldn't tell you how many stars own ranches up here. I have actually been up to Mel Gibson's as well as Ted Turner's

Yeah, when we were passing through someone was saying that Harrison Ford or someone lives there.

I was most impressed with the raw nature, hours upon hours of nothing but mountain passes. I was loving it.

Snow?  What's that?   If you mean that white, wet, slushy stuff that sometimes falls from the sky, you can keep it.

:D
I agree TRL. I hope we don't see a flake all winter. Here in West TN. I belive that snow had to be one of the cures that God put on Egypt to make them to let his people go. LOL

We have it all....Half the state is Mountains, and then when you hit the eastern half the state it turns into rolling hills and praries. You really want to see some neat scenery, go to Glacier National Park. It is right up around the Whitefish area.

That town too, Glacier.

Very nice.

I'll try to find the route that the train took.

OK, NOW I know why they call Montana "God's Country". Daughter loved Wyoming when she was there in the Tetons!

BUT I still hate SNOW and ICE!!!

I'll have to agree with you Paul, Montana is a beautiful state. Went to Billings this past june and you don't know how many times I was swerving off the road looking at all the scenery.

You want a white nuckle ride, drive here in the wintertime...nothing like doing 75 on the interstate and hitting a patch of black ice:)

Snowing here too. Started about 4:00 pm and is still going. We have about 3-4 inches on the ground already. And to think I was racing cars 2 days ago. Lovely ND weather.:D

You are so right mlitefan01. The Whitefish/Kalispell area is awesome!!! We drove around Flathead Lake. How beautiful and the cherries are the bomb!!!:p

White knucle ride is riding a great motorcycle thru ice and snow :)

BLACK ice is pretty dang lethal, ya think it's just wet asphalt untill ya skid:mad:

You should see the dang rednecks on bald tires runnin off the road here:(

They don't know what the hey they are doing and hurt a bunch of REAL drivers.

Well the temp here is way down in the mid 60's.:D We have a different kind of cold down here. If it gets down in the 30's and the hummidity is high, you will freeze your you know what off. I have skied in whiteout conditions with the wind chill at 35 below and it felt about 30 here.
My grandfather lived all his life in northern Mn. and he could not take the winters down here. When its cold it is COLD.

Hey Jarret Fan? What part of ND are you in? I'm originally from Bismark, though I have relatives all over the state. Ya got some guts there with that Viking av. There playing has been less than spectacular this year. This keep ups and ol red will move em to Texas. Looks like the flakes are starting here now...woohoo :)

I live in Mandan. I know my profile says Bismarck. I just wish I lived on that side of the river. I have been here since '95. I grew up in Mobridge SD.

The Vikes are pathetic aren't they? Bismarck High Demons beat them the other night 73-7.:) I look for Red to send them south. I wish he would send Maas south and use all that money for that worthless %$&@#$#@! for a defense.

My granddad lives in Mandan, right off the highway on the back side of the golf course. I was just up there 2 weeks ago for my cousins wedding. Moss is overrated. He doesn't put forth anymore, he got his paycheck, now why even try. Well, if nothing else, they should have some pretty good draft picks next year :)

Hey mlite and jarretfan. My son lives in Bismarck with wifey and three kids. I've visiited there a few times and did some tourist shopping in Mandan.

Nice countryside and especially nice people. Always felt welcome there.

No snow here yet. Been raining for two weeks now. If it had been snow rather than rain we might be under a few feet by now.

North Dakota really is "the old country" it's really a great place to visit, but you need a good job to want to stay there. It's a bit "flat" for my tastes also, I need my mountains :)

Winter temperatures here in Indiana, but no snow. :(

A raw, cold 55* here:rolleyes:

Funny how once one moves to the glorious South it's "cold" below 70*

It's all about perspective. In Northern Canada, it isn't considered cold until your breath freezes up and falls to the ground as little bits of ice, and it's a hell of a summer if it's above 40.

I want snow...even if it's just a coating it would be nice to see.

Oh my gosh mlite, I have probably hit your grand dad's house a time or two with a golf ball. I play that course quite a bit.

Do you have enough snow to run sleds yet? We had enough the other night that some have had theirs out in the ditches. About 6 inches.

I'm not a huge fan of ND but I do have a pretty good job here and my family lives here. I like the wide openess but hate the wind. I also like the change of season especially having snow at
Christmas but winter does get a bit long.

I think if I could live anywhere that I have been it would be in the Charlotte NC area. I abolutely loved it there. And the people seem to be more friendly and open to newcomers than they are here.

Small world Alaska!! How long have they been here? Do they like it?

Plant some trees, JF, that'll take care of some of the wind. :D
