... and the stands were more than halfway empty.

There weren't many students at all at the game, it was mostly parents of the athletes.

Guess this isn't just a motorsports problem.

No! Haha people blame Nascar for the issues.

The reality is that people are waking up and growing fustrated that the sports we love are sports entertainment first, and competition second.

That is a problem of commercialism and business WAY more than it is with the sanctioning body of a sport. People still don't understand this and cling to idealizations of something.

What happens when we cling to an idealization? Ask Karen Horney

Sorry not enough info, lots of unknown variables

If they would just let NFL quarterbacks play in these high school games, attendance wouldn't be a problem. And the losing team would learn so much.
Lock the thread now, no one is gonna top this, you win the internet for the week.

HS & collegiate football popularity is regional. Attendence is largly based on school size, locality & team performance.

Flawed argument.

The NFL told Dr. Bennet Omalu that if 10% of the football mothers thought football was dangerous, the NFL would be done. That's what he said on PBS's Frontline anyway.

Only reason I attended HS football games was I was in the band. Never attended a game after I graduated. Never attended a college game while I was attending. My school spirit was Jack Daniels:)
