Charlie Hustle, Joe Jackson, and others have had their permanent HOF bans revoked now that they're dead. Does Pete's on-field performance outweigh his off-field violations?

Me, I favor letting him in now that he isn't around to enjoy it. I think the story of baseball is incomplete without him. Let him in not for his benefit but for those fans of the sport who would otherwise be missing aspects of the game.

I would vote him in with my second vote, my first vote would go to Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Death is more than long enough for any statue of limitations imo.

Furthermore, I think cycling through a generation or keeping someone out for more than 20 years is excessive.

I believe he should have been in when he was alive. One of if not the best hitters of all time? Like I get he waa betting on the game, and everything. But meh. He didn't bet against himself and the team. It's betting still yeah but I don't know..he wasn't throwing games or anything.

As far as now, I've heard he didn't want to go in after he died, so I don't know. On one hand, respect his wishes, on the other again one of the best of all time and deserves a spot.

This. I don’t get the appeal of gambling but to me that's very different from betting against himself or the team.
Like that's always been the thing to me. Like I could 100% understand if he was betting on teams they were playing, then playing badly to help his bets. But ****, man probably played even harder since he did bet on his team.

Pete Rose is not even in the running for best hitter in Baseball. He is definitely the best player for longevity. His lifetime BA is .303 if I am not mistaken, hardly even close to the great hitters.

Pete's stats and records speak for themselves. No need to debate those. The only question is whether or not the gambling should keep him out forever. He certainly earned it on the field.

lol sharing a list from 2023, when he was still banned. I'm guessing you didn't read it Bob, because it goes into WHY he deserves it, just basically saying that he can't go in because of the ban. Now that it's lifted, he very well could. We won't find out until 2027 however. That is when the next vote for the ballot he will be on is. So, it's going to be a little bit of time until we even find out. But please, proof read the stuff you share in the future, thanks.

I'm guessing the baseball writers will vote him down the first time so they can stroke their egos. After that first year all bets are off. Especially if the votes are made public.

Yeah, I should have asked a second question. It's not just should he get in, it's will he? I have strong doubt he or any of the newly eligible will be admitted.
