Reading stuff today about ESPN/ABC and ABC News' coverage of Saturday night's fight.

The media trying to convict Stewart of attempted murder again?

I think you should write another good piece but about this issue this time, on your site. We could all promote it via social media and whatnot. Maybe it'd get some traction with some of the bigger media outlets with the loud, shrill voices.
We'd all win in that case.
 
Tony's an easy target, along with racing in general. We race fans are a minority, and many non-fans are prejudiced against what they don't understand. News media - especially TV - realize this and exploit it to get eyeballs.

I suppose it fits with something Dale Earnhardt Sr. reportedly said to Jeff Gordon "At least they’re making noise. It’s when they stop making noise that you know something’s wrong.” Earnhardt was talking about fans booing, but this situation is similar. If the media ignores racing then we've got a bigger problem.

Main stream media could do it without throwing rocks. There is a fine line between reporting and gossip.

We would hope. But too much mainstream media is "entertainment" rather than news... and isn't above turning a story into a soap opera if it will sell advertising.

Yep. And that's why idiots like Nancy Grace and Jane Velez Mitchell have shows on what used to be a fairly reputable news channel.
 
I'd have Smoke in my foxhole any day of the week, at least I'd know he wasn't going to cut and run. I can say the same thing of old man E'hardt both are true to the bone in what they do, I find no fault or harm in that.

Pretty much.

I've said this before, but CNN Headline News used to be my go-to station, back when it was just a straight vanilla news source and they just told you the stories of the day every hour. I used to love some of the anchorwomen they had on there, like Rudi Bakhtiar, Robin Meade (Morning Express is the only reason to even watch that channel anymore IMO), Christina Park, and Veronica De La Cruz. Then they changed the format all around and put a bunch of opinion/commentary shows on. It was the beginning of the end for me once the likes of Nancy Grace and Showbiz Tonight took over the network.

I've noticed that some of those folks that I used to like on CNN/Headline News have ended up on MSNBC as regular anchors/reporters, like Thomas Roberts, Veronica De La Cruz, and Richard Lui. I could have sworn that my man Craig Melvin used to work for CNN too, but apparently not.

Tabloid journalism used to be a subset of journalism but it has become the standard for mainstream media.

No such thing as a reputable cable news channel anymore. All about ratings; sensationalized "reporting" draws the viewers, which makes the money. That's why **** like this happens...
