SPEED will put an exclamation point on its coverage of the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series season, delivering a pair of one-hour specials from the Champions Week festivities in New York City on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
“Beginning with testing back in January and our 70-plus hours of coverage from Daytona, SPEED has delivered every exciting moment of the 2006 season to the NASCAR fans,” said Hunter Nickell, SPEED EVP & General Manager. “Our Champions Week specials will put the final touches on a great season, but the cool thing is that 2007 looks to be even more electrifying for SPEED viewers. With the addition of the Gatorade Duels and the NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge to the SPEED line-up beginning in 2007, SPEED will continue to be the season-long destination for NASCAR fans.”
On Thursday, Steve Byrnes will host a special highlighted by coverage of the NASCAR/NMPA Myers Brothers Awards, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
On Friday, the crew from NASCAR RaceDay – John Roberts, Jimmy Spencer, Kenny Wallace and Wendy Venturini will host a banquet-night special live from the famed Waldorf Astoria, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
Television personality Melissa Rivers, known for her red-carpet work at various award shows, joins the RaceDay crew to work Nextel’s “yellow carpet” for SPEED. Good Lord, help us all.
