SPEED TV

Yeah, they were talking about this yesterday and again all morning on NASCAR Radio. They are going to run a whole gambit of sports programming. There making it sound like many of the motorsports programs will be gone. That sucks IMO. I'd rather see NASCAR start their own network.

Hopefully, another network/channel will come into play on this. Aside from the NASCAR programming on SPEED, Grand Am, World of Outlaws, all the Lucas Oil sanctioned series, and others will need a new TV home if Fox opts not to keep these on the new channel.

It's not looking good for any of these other programs on the new channel. Here's a blurb on this.....

Besides baseball, Fox will also put NASCAR racing, college football, soccer and Ultimate Fighting on its cable channel. The working name for the channel is Fox Sports 1.

I wonder if Fox will give some of that programming to Fuel TV. What was once a channel for extreme sports has pretty much turned into the MMA channel. Since I am sure some of their MMA programs will move from Fuel to Fox Sports One it might make room for some Arca, Grand Am, and Motor X races. Sounds like a no brainer to me since the channel is already called "Fuel TV".

On the Morning drive they mentioned live streaming of NASCAR. I am not holding my breath.

Correct but that is just the tip of the iceberg.
I hope so. I hope to see it available each and every week during the season.

I explained in the other FOX thread about how you can do this now if you really want it. I am doing it and it's great.

I have Verizon for my cell provider and the NASCAR apps are limited. I would switch to Sprint in a nanosecond if their coverage was worth a dang around here.

I've got Verizon too and my sentiments are exactly the same about the move to Sprint. A couple weeks ago a new app was made available for iPhone owners. Apparently it is a limited version of the Sprint app. I have not seen it as I have an Android phone.

Isn't that what SPEED Channel was supposed to be when it was first on the air?

Yes and it was included in the basic cable programing, then they moved it up into the extended/expanded programing which at the time was another 25 bucks or so,,plus tax. I'm not paying that to watch qualifing. But then my wife wanted a channel in that tier so I now have it. I'm not happy but momma is and you should know the rest.

Nascar is the only major sport to not have it's own network.

Look at MLB TV and MLB.COM

They have their Chit together.

I don't care about qualifying or practice as long as they or someone else carries the truck races I'm happy.

NASCAR and mma on FUEL TV?
Count me in.

There are also rumblings of maybe CBS getting back into the picture. I first fell in love with this sport through that network.
Let's see what happens.

I'm more worried about who will cover the f1, moto gp, rolex grand am, ama supercross and other forms of racing that I watch if they decide to cut them from the channel.

CBS has actually broadcast a couple dirt late model races, as well as a delayed Chili Bowl broadcast this year, so I think it's more than rumblings.

I'm betting Grand-Am ALMS goes to ESPN as part of the merger.

I wonder if moving everything to FUEL TV voids existing contracts. I'm sure FOX will keep the trucks and F1 on FS1. NBCSN should go sign ARCA, Supercross and any other racing series that's about to get screwed out of all the money they paid for their contracts now to fill the gaping hole that is NBCSN's entire programming schedule from October-June.

NBC, NBCSN, CBS and CBSSN make more since than being on FOX and ESPN. ESPN already can't find time to air all the sports events and NASCAR races they have.

So I've noticed.
I gotta say, though, if there's one thing I dislike, it's a tape-delayed broadcast of any race. Some of those late model races are shown in a one hour time slot, and if so and so has a half a lap lead with 10 laps to go and the broadcast ends in 5 minutes, then all the suspense is gone.
I haven't watched the Knoxville Nationals in about 4 years. Thank you, SPEED.

I'm not a big fan of Daly's, um, stuff but he nailed it here. I mean, he really nailed it. FOX is doing EXACTLY what he said they are here. They're pressuring NASCAR to sign that contract NOW and then, once it's signed, they'll announce SPEED is done. NASCAR's stupid to want to rush this thing -- they need to think long and hard. Even if they lose a little bit of money, it would be better for them to go to NBC and CBS.

I mean, let's face it, NBC Sports Network sucks. Hockey is the only thing anybody watches on there. It's a win-win to have Trucks or Nationwide on there, especially since Nationwide wouldn't constantly be moved off the air in favor of tennis or the other mediocre sports that have pre-empted racing in the past. CBS Sports Network really really sucks.

But NASCAR would rather take the money, even if it means half their races will be pulled off the air the second that contract's signed.

I was wondering why they shut down their discussion boards this week.

Very Interesting. Nothing nascar related on Speed until 3 pm Saturday. Hmmmm.
