Sponsorship is weird...

o/t They had a Hooter war last summer. The pipeliner's were in town applying for a big project and they had the Twin Peaks joint filled up with pipeliner trucks. About a mile down the road was Hooters and their parking lot was pretty empty. After a couple of days of that they had the Hooter girls outside washing cars in bikinis. Twin Peaks hung in there and kept most of the pipeliner business. It's tough out there.

Hard to believe that race was run 3 years before Chase was born. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago.

Not the point I was making. Its just funny that for the Hooters car to win that title it had to beat the dad of the guy driving it now.

I knew what you ment....forums will evolve someday..perception creates a lot of problems haha

The casting of Jim Neighbors as a NASCAR crew chief STILL makes me cringe more than 30 years later. Sort of makes Six Pack seem more credible.

Jim got the job because he and Burt were buddies. Jerry Reed would have been a FAR better choice, but he was busy doing that cine-turd called Smokey and the Bandit III. Just about every person in that movie except for Loni was a FOB, and she ended up marrying him. My only beef with Stroker Ace is the same as Days of Thunder. To go to that much trouble to make a movie and use such miscast actors and week plot lines just makes me sad. The basic plot of Stroker is not that bad, but ditch Jim, and have Loni play her part more like she played Jennifer on WKRP and you could have had something. Days could have been decent if they would have completely written out the Nicole Kidman character and stopped trying to do Top Gun on Wheels. Why Hollywood can't resist taking everything to it's most absurd conclusion, I can't figure out. They all needed to go watch Grand Prix and learn how to do a damn racing movie.

Bingo, that is what DOT was, TG on wheels, I personally love DOT, but it could of been so much better.

yeah at the time Tom Cruise was the it guy. He did a decent job of acting, but many couldn't get the top gun character out of their heads. Kidman was weak, hard to buy into the whole lady doctor suddenly a racing fan deal for me. Would have been better to find a gear head girl, maybe part of the team for the love interest. Robert Duvall carried most of the movie IMO.

Robert Duvall........ they couldn't have cast a better actor to portray Harry Hyde...... of course .... I am partial to Duvall in ANY movie..... He was great in Lonesome Dove......

You pretty much summed it up perfectly, couldnt agree more

S&B 3 is unwatchable. Seriously, what an abortion that movie was. I loved Jerry Reed and obviously loved the first movie, but man, that third movie is an embarrassment.
I loved the first 1........ never watched any of the others.... usually the remakes are a disappointment .....

2 isn't viewable either. The FOB 'Cannonball Run' films aren't much either, esp. when compared to the earlier 'Gumball Rally'.

The second one wasn't much better. Bandit was fun and likeable in the first one, he was an egotistical a$$hole in the second one.

The only thing I like about the third one is I used to have a T/A identical to the one Jerry Reed drove in that movie.
