Sprint All-Star Pre-race Race Thread

Wow I think most of the replys said it all. I think that most race fans are tired of DW constant BS and watching a race is just a steady stream of commercial. One blogger said that its just a steady stream trying to sell junk like the KFC commercial I ATE THE BONE damn I hate that.i to get tired of just watching the front runners. I wanna see some that are mid pack or back of the pack. They are racing also fighting for position. Why should we have to sit by and hear four hours on how good Bush is doing. What about the other 42 racers sometime I root for the underdog I wold like to see where he, or she is running also. I want to see the beating and banging mid pack. Let face it every week there's 43 drivers on the track putting it on the line so we can see a good race not just the chosen few. DW do us all a favor and SHUT THE HELL UP!

Like it or not, DW and the crew are there to sell a product. I don't care for it either. They treat us like its our first ever NASCAR race. There are newbies out there that actually look forward to the "info". Not us.
Beats the crap out of watching golf, though. How the hell do you make a putt sound exciting?

How do you make a stupid chicken commercial sound exciting? As someone else said had many times do we need to hear Toyota or Sunoco and not just once or twice but throughout the whole race show more racing less BS.

I'm not arguing. To us it's boring, to others it's informative.

I thought this comment put into perspective how silly that is:

Philip Rivers just put on his Riddell helmet as he takes the field folks, walking across the Scotts grass to the huddle. He drops back and throws the Rawlings football to Melvin Smith who catches it in his Acme gloved hands. Notice how much the running back has improved, because he's only dropped the Rawlings football three times this game, which is awesome, and the game is more exciting then ever because the Rawlings football has been kicked by the Nike shoe of the kicker through the US Steel uprights three times now for an exciting score of 6 to 3. What an improvement since the NFL commissioners instituted the rule preventing physical contact between players of opposing teams!

a number of fans said that they had a problem with the broadcast, so they switched to listening to the radio, or some taped the race and watched it. Those are healthy ways to deal with it. Around here the same ones every week bleed all over the thread about the same thing. Just like the article..the rest of us get it... enough already. Get off the cross..we need the wood.

unfortunately.... dw ...an all announcers .....got this little earbud speaker in their ear.
from his boss ! who has a boss...etc ..etc..on up tha line.
all kinds a' production meetins before race. plannin what ta say.
can't just show up... grab mic...an start sayin 1st thing that comes ta mind.

fox...an nascar/sprint/etc ... does poll what fans think.......prolly non of us tho ! ha!
cause they payin tha bills.....36% premium last time i think?

i hate mikey ......but look what happened ta trackside ! welcome ta tha future !

"sho me tha $$$$" ha!

Hope this race is at least half as good as tonight's truck race.
I'm hearing the word "unpredictable" being thrown around a lot in the hours leading up to the all-star race.
Like they do every year.

We'll see. For me, it's been a while since I would rate this event a 10.

Heck, I'd settle for a 9.

Wow, Kurt has put Furniture Row, on the front row, 2 weeks in a row.
He can drive. His attitude is getting better, too. If he keeps it up someone will stick him in a top seat again. Might not be Roger Penske, but someone will sign him. Heck, I think he'd do a better job in the 39...

Maybe so but a driver also has to be marketable and not a likely source of embarrassment to the sponsor

He'll be in a better ride soon enough but I think it will be with RCR. They're already in touch because of the alliance with FRR so that helps. That would be better than going to SHR, that team is a dumpster fire right now.

Well it looks like there is not going to be a retaliation from Kasey Kahne today in the All Star race. My hats off to Kasey for admitting that after talking to Kyle and seeing how it all went down that he understands that they were just racing hard and there is no hard feelings. I have a whole new respect for Kasey and I might just start rooting for him.

Nice of Carl to do that.

One of my all-time favorite commercials (sorry about the early ad you have to wait through - only a few seconds)

"It's Shake and Bake...and I helped"

P.S. - I bought 5 tickets for the Powerball tonight and I woke up feeling lucky - so - chances are - Kenny Schrader will have a contending ride in next year's Daytona 500 :pbjtime:

I got blasted by the resident idiots in another thread (started by one of our resident trolls) for saying that Kyle wasn't to blame for the Darlington incident. So now that Kasey has stated the same I wonder if those people will blast Kasey? LOL

It was kybu's fault, FB has proven it, KKs just setting him up.

Weather is looking fugly per my phone... Crossing my fingers

Are you serious?? Did Kyle Petty really pick David Ragan??

Looks like the weather will hold off at least for the showdown. Everything is moving Northeast and there currently isn't anything Southwest of Charlotte.

Off topic - weather seems to have "settled" at Pimlico for the Preakness...ORB (KY Derby winner) going against a 9 horse field (at least three of which are good)...track is (fairly) dry and fast. 1 and 3/16ths of a mile. ORB starts on the rail - post time 6:18 on NBC.

I'm thinking that Danica's best strategy would be to stay on pit road throughout the entire Showdown.

So they were asking fans "What's mandatory after the 4th segment?" First chick answers..."Wear your seatbelt." What is she even doing there!?!?

Link to that?

Is this race going to happen on time or is it a rain out/rain delay situation?

I feel like we are in a rain delay. Earlier in the broadcast, they said the showdown would be in an hour and 14 minutes, but I feel like it's be longer than that.
