SPRINT CUP: The Night Race at Bristol

Awesome to see Kyle pull off the sweep! I was expecting someone to say how doublemint gum should be called triplemint gum for this weekend

On the other hand terrible day for Stewart and Martin. I really want Mark to get into the chase. I'm hoping Biffle blows it in the next 2 races and Martin and Newman/Bowyer make it into the chase.

Congrats to Jeff Gordon for clinching a spot in the chase tonight.

I just got home from this race and I have to say that in person it was a real snooze. I don't know how it came off on TV but MANY people at the race were disappointed in how un eventful and to be honest, boring it was. Some of the people that were with my group got up and left before half way they were so burnt out.

With the exception of a few (and I mean very few) battles for the lead and the 48 and 11 both having trouble, there was almost nothing interesting going on, on the track.

On a side note, I find it interesting thow everyone "hates" Kyle Busch, but it is workin' out for him ok because he gets the biggest crowd reaction by far. Dale Jr. can not touch the overall reaction that Kyle gets, it is kinda funny that people hate him, but he seems to be the only driver they care about at all.

Just something I noticed when I went to Dover, Pocono, Michigan, Chicago and Bristol last season and I noticed that Kyle got booed wayyyy more in Bristol then the other 4.

Yet another race with no late race caution. Anyone noticing a trend here? Nascar obviously wanted Kyle to win, but they could have bunched up the field for an exciting finish. What is going on?

You are correct about the reaction.

I was getting ready to pack up and get out of the hospitality when I heard the roar for both Kyle and Jr. I watched on a TV monitor and Kyle had Jr. beat in crowd reaction.

On a side note, we were standing around talking about how the crowds were so much thinner this year. I heard that two years ago they had over 52 hospitality tents going but this year it was only about 15 or 18. But some tracks are doing even worse.

It isn't just the economy. The old timers are sick of the new Nascar and have left the sport. The newbie short-attention span crowd that came on board after 2000 became board and lost interest.

Nascar has a big problem on their hands and they are trying all kinds of things to get the crowds back. But unfortunately, they are making poor choices.

The cash cow is drying up.

Nascar just can't win, can they? If they call a late race caution people say it's just to tighten the field up for an exciting finish to a boring race. If they don't call a late caution it's because they obviously want that driver to win.
How about call a caution only if there is actually a wreck or bebris, but not call one if there isn't.
Why should they have to call a caution to bunch the field up for an exciting finish? Is it nascar's fault if the other drivers can't get on the bumper of the leader? No, it's the other drivers fault.
