Sprint Unlimited is the new name for the Shootout.

Sprint is adding another sponsorship to its NASCAR portfolio. The title sponsor of NASCAR’s top series signed a multiyear deal to sponsor the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway. The race, which was formerly known as the Budweiser Shootout, will become the Sprint Unlimited.

That's about as commercialized as it gets.

My exact reaction to the name change.

It's great and all that they want to push their unlimited talk/text/data but it would be real cool if they took that money in advertising and erected some more towers. In my little bubble of the world there is no Sprint coverage. I think that once they ever upgrade their coverage area to make it equal with Verizon or AT&T the word unlimited will no longer be on the table. They'll become as overpriced as the rest.

Their coverage is very spotty here also DP and priced the same as Verizon which I now have. They should have taken over Nextels antennas when they started shutting them down, Nextel had great coverage.

I live in an area that is considered roaming for them according to their coverage map. It also lists it as a limited coverage area where all services may not be available. That kinda disputed the unlimited portion of their advertisment the way I read it. My area is adjacent to a completely uncovered area which according to their coverage map it looks as white as the snow surrounding my house right now.

This is the fourth morning in a row that I've had to spray the frost off of my windshield to drive the mile to the hunting club. I'll freeze to death if this 30 degree weather dont stop. It'll only get to 61 degrees today, Brrr. :p

Also from @nascarasm

How will this affect the selection show? Drivers picking a phone with a number on the screen? This is a serious concern.

I have a way to make everyone happy.

The Sprint Unlimited roaming charges shootout.

Now you all can stop bitching about your phones and get back to talking about racing. ;)

&^#* Sprint, especially at the race track. If you have Verizon, AT&T or any other carrier that's not named Sprint, you can pretty much forget about data on your device until the end of the weekend when the Sprint trucks leave.

It does get tough to get a a good data connection with that many people together.

Pretty soon instead of the green flag it will be the Sprint Unlimited Quaker State Office Depot Aarons Toyota vroom vroom flag.

If you listen to MRN, everytime the caution comes out, it's "The Service Master Clean Caution".

I think NBC Sportschannel names the IndyCar restarts.........

Thats not quite as bad as mikeys "Aarons lucky dog", not quite but close.

That isn't any different from when Coors and Bud sponsored the event.
There could be no sponsor and no race!
No big deal. It doesn't count and doesn't feature a full field. Indeed, this year it doesn't even include the reigning champion. It and the All-Star race could be dropped without bothering me at all.

Wait, we can eliminate the Miss Sprint Cup Fire suit? I vote yes! Bikinis all the way!

I've become so immune to all the advertisements that I don't even know why this would bother anyone anymore. It's become so easy for me to tune it out. Plus watching the races on a delay via the DVR really helps as well.

What's the point of Miss Sprint Cup wearing a fire suit? Is she going to drive a race car / be out on track? Is she going to be around people handling fuel?

Not sure I like the idea of cars being eliminated after segments. I want to see as many cars finish as possible.
