Stewart

I didn't hear whjat he said but he was sure throwing a class A hissy fit taking off his helmet and removing the steering wheel. Someone oughta tell him he just doesn't cut it trying to be a A.J. Foyt clone.

They replayed what he said on the scanner and he blamed the team for not getting him out before Johnson. Zippy told him they won and lost as a team and Tony had messed up a couple times himself. Tony replied "Yeah but the difference is I made mine up." By the time they interviewed him on TV he had settled down some.

Settled down? More like biting his tongue on what he really wanted to say. He was still steamed.

He had the race won and that last caution cost him the win. It looked like JJ got in his box faster. He hasn't won a race all year and was steamed. I would be too. I expect him to win at Loudon.

What's with raggin on the pit crews the last couple of years? Maybe my memory is a bit foggy but my recall is that rarely use to happen (or at least nearly as much). Maybe when pit crews make as much $$$ as the prima donna drivers they'll be perfect too <g>

Tony Stewart is what he is. A huge crybaby, a pretty decent racer and a huge crybaby. Lets face it: He just ran out of talent Sunday. Lets see how many crew people he will go through when he starts his own team. I know that if my boss pitched a fit like that on me, I would say Buh-Bye. So wonder he still single and almost 40. He needs to grow up a whole bunch. I like that he has a passion to win. I just don't agree with throwing everyone under the bus. Zippy said the right thing and is probably looking forward to next year when he can have the opportunity to work with someone who acts older than Stewart.

If I had a driver, and I've had a bunch, who didn't get PO'd over coming close but not winning I'd start looking for another. I'm also a former modified driver and the I should have, could have plays big in your mind. I'd rather finish dead last than lose by a car length. That's all I'm sayin'

I appreciate the passion, the drive, the emotion shown by Tony and I'm not a Tony fan.

What Tony said certainly wasn't any worse than Denny Hamlin's statement about his team.

I agree with SST55, give me a driver who hates to lose and isn't shy about expressing his distaste with losing.

I heard Big E discussing the ancestry of his crew after some mistakes on pit road --- tore them all to hell.
Nothing new.

Sounds like you two are talking about Kyle Busch. I'm a Roush fan (Ford) but I'm also a Kyle Busch fan for the simple fact that he shows up every week to win. He may not be the most mature driver out there (but who is mature at 23?) but he has proven that he has the drive to be one of the best.

Bobby, I'll join you, TRL and SST55 in that I want a driver who WANTS to win. And for those who would fire Tony and any one like him if they were an owner, I'd hire them all if I were an owner. :)

I want a driver who wants to win, but I would never hire Tony in the first place. So, I wouldn't have to worry about telling him he's fired. .:D

Yeah I guess Smoke does set a good example as a professional he ought to be in the big world of Nascar. The kind of example that you would watch a race with your children and tell them I hope you grow up to be just like him. Only kidding of course.

It kills me that people are always using the "example" excuse when giving their opinion of someone whether they are actors, athletes or anyone else. There are plenty of people I'd tell my children to be like when they grow up and then there are plenty of them I would say to avoid. Many of the later are tops in their fields as well.

I'd never tell my daughter to be like Jane Fonda, but then again, it would depend on what she was doing. If it is acting, I'd say go for it. On the other hand, if it is political activism, that's a different story. As for a son, I'd never tell him to act like Charles Barkley off the court, but if he could achieve what Charles did on the court, then by all means. I'd never tell my children to be like Dale Earnhardt the senior as for personality, but if they could achieve what he did on the track, great! Tony Stewart made his name by his talent in a race car, not what he says or does on and off camera. If you want a great personality who is a race driver, give me Kyle Petty, but if you want a race driver who will win, give me Tony Stewart. It takes all kinds in this world for every profession and when someone who on the top of his/her profession is put in front of the camera for the entire world to see, well the public might not like what they see and hear, but it doesn't take away from their talent.

Example

You're right Buck. I don't know what I was thinking. Nascar is no more than the WWW. Winning is everything. If they want to act like Morons thats ok as long as they are winning and picking up their big checks and trophies. If children are watching and admiring their so called "heroes" thats ok too. We need to teach them that Winning is Everything. Home Depot should be proud to place their name on the side of his car, it helps their corporate image to let everyone know to them that Winning is everything. Might even help them if they know when they are not winning they can just blame it on someone else.Teamwork shouldn't mean anything. Not what you want to teach your children anyway.Guess I just didn't know that this winning is everything was so good for our youth of today.Know wonder this world is getting to be a much better place to live.
