lol Seriously, it's just human nature. Ford guys would be cheering if it was a Roush car. Since it's a Chevy, the brand that has beaten up on Ford since 1930, they see it different. They cry foul and highlite angst about nascar's credability. It's just a normal human reaction.

IMO, I would never want to see a team get penalized in this situation...at all. I'm a Dodge fan, but to present and race a car again and again, have it measured again and again and again, point out the C-post covers and have an official DOCUMENT that they are OK is more than enough for any team to do in following the rules. How daffy would nascar look if they had been able to go against all of their own inspections and penalize a team based solely on the keen eye of Darby?

In the end, the system worked because Middlebrooke wasn't willing to go along with NASCAR's insistance that it's wrong if they say it's wrong, no matter what the rules, their techs, their jig say.

Chad has a target on him. He's been caught venturing into the gray area and bending rules before, more than once or twice. I have no doubt the 48, or whatever car he's the cc of, will get super extra scrutiny from now on. Is that fair? Probably not but IMO he brought it on himself.

With those Beaver Teeth he could prolly CHEW the bark off as well!

BTW, the hairdo is FABULOUS!!!

Despite repeated questions, Helton maintained Johnson's car was not legal according to the NASCAR rulebook.

JJ - "The reason we won that appeal is because we proved those C-Posts were legal. If we hadn't done that we wouldn't have won."

This could get real interesting again come Talladega if the same C-posts are ran back through inspection. It seems they still son't see eye to eye.

I repeat SOMEONE IS TELLING A LIE

"Inspection process found issues..."
Wasn't the car pulled BEFORE going through that process?

60 seconds in, we have a liar.

"[Middlebrook] decision upholds the inspection process..."

OK, now he's delusional.

Mike is totally evasive on the question as to what the message is when Middlebrook reversed most of the penalties.

I'm amazed that not one media guru asked Mike the key question he can't wiggle out of. Why wasn't the 48 team allowed to fix the issue, like all the other teams were?

I think they just have a difference of opinion on the rules and process. They should agree to disagree and move on. I think Middlebrook thought the same thing.

Don't be bigot. You are too smart for that.

Matt IMO some Nascar fans and people in general except way to much without question.
I do not believe for one second that there was a misunderstanding about the rule.
If you except it thats fine.
And BTW i could give a chit less about the penalty i don't think it would have made any difference after 26 races

Personally I think there is a bunch of stuff at play that we will never know about. My post was more about Middlebrook just realizing that both sides had some blame and both sides had some valid points then making a ruling that would allow both sides to save face.

I'm just glad its done.
