It ain't real racing! Take the plates off! Anyone can win! Tear down the banking. NASCAR wants the 'BIG ONE'! Blah, blah blah, blah, blah.....

It's gotta suck to be a non fan of the restrictor plate tracks. Four times a year you've gotta deal with it. Maybe this weekend would be a great time for you to get something done around the house? This is my favorite of the two restrictor plate tracks. One of these days I'll make it to this track to watch this event.

I don't for a second believe that people who claim to hate plate races yet still watch actually dislike them. I don't like The Bold and The Beautiful or Duck Dynasty so I don't watch them.

I guess I can't fathom why anyone would intentionally partake in an activity which they find so distasteful

DPK, special thanks for posting this information each week. It is most helpful and informative.

If you do go PM me and see if my friends are using their infield camping reservations. There are three different sets of my friends that have permanent infield camping reservations in the red campground, spots in the 60s and 70s, that overlooks turn one, nothing between them and the track but the fence. They cant go to every race like they used to so they let any of our circle of friends that want them have them for face value. There is no need for me to tell you why infield camping spots at Talladega are impossible to get. We go every two or three years, that's about all my old heart can stand.

Not a problem. Sometimes it's just good to focus on next week. I like talking about the next weeks events and there's always news coming out about the next race.

I am probably a couple two or three years from making the trip down there for a race. Right now my wife and I are heavily into school related sports with the kids. That takes up most of our time so weekends to spare are few and far between but that will change in time. The sites sound great. I may take you up on that in the future.

While I'm not a fan of plate races, I don't complain about them. Why do I watch them? Because it's still NASCAR. I don't like road courses either, but I still watch those.

With that being said, will we have an under dog winner this weekend? First time winner? I'm thinking the way he's been running, ol' Kurt could put that #78 in victory lane this weekend.

I prefer to be at the plate races rather than watching them at home. For some reason, I get more nervous/agitated/irritated/aggravated/anxious at home. Watching from the stands is no problem. Don't understand. :)

I love plate races. Always have, always will. Daytona was boring but I still found it exciting. Talladega is my favorite track and I can't wait for this weekend! I don't care if they run single file for a while to keep out of trouble, and its fun to see who can take the lead using the draft in the unpreferred lane. Also chances are they changed the package a bit to allow for more drag or something. Maybe different tires? I don't think it will be the same as Daytona, the track is more worn and there's more room to race, plus the placement of the finish line has yet to let me down. Always good finishes from what I've seen. I guess I just don't have a problem watching the middle of a boring race. I like to see all the strategy and everything that goes into getting people up front at the end. I hate missing the middle boring part and coming back and not knowing how who got where, who's out for what and you get a better sense of the tension level after watching the whole race. CAN'T WAIT FOR DEGA!!

I don't know about Talladega being this crap shoot some people seem to think it is as most of the recent winners are/were some of the best drivers in Nascar such as Gordon, Stewart, Johnson, Kenseth, Keselowski, Earnhardt Jr, Bowyer, Elliot, LaBonte etc.

But for an underdog, I'll go with Patrick.

But on the other hand, you have McMurray, Vickers, Hamilton, Waltrip, Smith (but overturned).

My reasoning isn't for that though, I just don't like the "pack" racing. I enjoyed the! plate tracks a lot when they were able to do the tandem racing, but they had to take that away.

I enjoyed the tandem too.. I mean come on the most competitive race in NASCAR history was at Talladega with tandem racing. Also I wouldn't be surprised to see Joey get the win here. Just sayin, 4 top 10's 2 top 5s in 8 starts. Always fast at plate tracks. I'd like to see Michael Waltrip win it though he got robbed last fall.

Did you know?

Richard Childress Racing has the most wins at Talladega in the NASCAR Sprint Cup with 12; followed by Hendrick Motorsports with 11.

Did you know?

47 NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers have won at Talladega, led by Dale Earnhardt with 10. Jeff Gordon leads all active drivers with 6.

Did you know?

36 NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers have Coors Light poles at Talladega led by B. Elliott w/ 8. Front Row Joe leads all active drivers w/4

Did you know?

Buddy Baker and Tony Stewart are tied for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series most runner-up finishes at Talladega w/ 6 each.

Point taken :)

Personally, I don't care where they're racing as long as there's a race:headbang:

Did you know?

13 of the 87 NASCAR Sprint Cup races (14.9%) at Talladega have been won from the Coors Light pole.

&

Outside front row starting position at Talladega is the most proficient starting position in the field, producing 20 wins.

Alabama QB AJ McCarron to drive pace car at Talladega.

Hopefully his gf will be accompanying him.

DARN! I was hoping for Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, Johnny Manziel. ;)

How about both QB's show up? Of course, as long as Manziel has his chick there too. Lol
