Talladega two-step --- RACE thread

Oh I'm sorry is this a discussion board or a support group?

The way Gordon decided to back down with 10 to go was ok with you? Its a pathetic way of racing. I'm not going to praise someone for chickening out, fan or not.
If you listened to the incar you would know the 13 came down on him and he had to drop down or be part of a big wreck and got shuffled back. He was pissed.

Dillon was already going around before Stenhouse touched him. Stenhouse certainly finished the job, I'll give you that, but it looked to me like Dillon just lost it.

And I hope someone uploads that audio of Kyle's cussin' fit earlier. The little bit I just heard sounds hilarious. LOL.
They showed the 17s incar earlier and he clearly bumped the 14 first and Austin said he got hooked first.

Doesn't explain why he stayed down there for as long as he did. He had a few oportunities to get on the top lane and regroup.

I'm confused why he waited so long with so little time. Meh.

Onto Martinsville. Redemption time.

Happy for Jaime though
This bored has a lot of Jeff Gordon "fans." It's quite annoying and I really don't understand how you can call yourself a fan of any driver when you are constantly calling them pathetic. Apparently a driver isn't good enough unless he never makes mistakes and wins every race.

Think for a second. I understand where you are coming from, but at the same time do you realize with four races to go Gordon still has a shot to win and if he managed to get in trouble... Bye bye championship opportunity. Looking at the long term than one race... That is quite an intelligent move. Take something rather than anything at all.

Call it a bitch move all you want, others did it as well to help their championship opportunities.

Again listen to the incar before throwing your driver under the bus, he lost so much momentum when he dropped down that the other cars flew by him.

The top lane was a single file line of roughly 25 cars all tucked in right behind each other. How exactly was he suppose to fit his car in there? If you get shoved to the back and no one is trying to make a move, there is no way you are getting back to the front.

Oh, I must not have been paying attention to the in-car camera. From the infield camera it looked like Dillon got loose first.

Whatever, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm just glad everyone is okay and that the wreck wasn't bigger than it was.

On a side note, did you guys know Gordon has a pornstar fan? ROFL

Oh twitter.

Oh twitter.
I'm not surprised. He has millions of fans, so odds are that at least one of them would be a pornstar. There's probably more than one and they just haven't all outed themselves yet.

You really need to stop being so hard on ol' Jeffy though, dude. Let's see you strap into that race car and get it done better than he can. :)

I'm hard on him sometimes cause I care.

I dont get the excuse people always use of "lets see you get in the car and do better" arguement. No crap I wouldn't do as good. That's not the point.

If we start saying that to everyone that complaints about their teams we wouldn not a sport, now would we?

On the positive side he made a net gain on the points lead, from (-36) to (-34).

Dillon wend down, went back up out of the groove and got turned when he tried to come back down.

I know what Dillon said, but he wouldn't have gotten hooked had he held his line. What happened was more his own fault than Stenhouse's fault.

inb4 Stenhouse wrecked him on purpose.

Gosh it makes me happy when Kenseth sucks :partytime

Thank you Matt for sucking today and losing a big handful of points to Kyle Busch

It's one thing to complain or be upset at the way things go for your driver or the decisions they make sometimes, but I feel like you spend every single race worrying and complaining about every single move Jeffy or his team makes. I think you would benefit sometimes from just sitting back and letting the race unfold before you start panicking, criticizing, and getting upset with whatever Jeffy may or may not be doing at any given time. Obviously he's not gonna be up front the whole time in every race, because it's far too competitive out there and there are way too many variables in racing for that to happen.

The funny thing is that Jeff has actually been running great in the Chase for the most part - much better than I thought he was capable of running - and as much as it pains me to admit it, that 24 team actually has a legit shot at the title this year. I understand that you and every other Gordon fan wants to see him lead the points and win it all, but honestly, you should be thrilled that he is still even in the hunt. I figured he'd already be somewhere around ninth in points by now.

Please don't take offense to anything I've said here, because like most of the folks here, you generally seem like an okay dude and I do like you despite the fact that I don't always agree with your posts. :)

Jeff himself said that the bottom lane just evaporated and he went to the back. No recriminations on his part.
With plate racing, that stuff just happens.
I guess I didn't post what the wife and I I heard just right. During the race the 13 came down on him and when he dropped down to avoid a wreck he lost momentum so he went back and on the scanner as he fell back he was pissed but it wasn't at the 13 it was at the situation, he explained this on the scanner while taking the cool down lap, and again he wasn't pissed at the 13, and yes that stuff just happens at plate races.

That's exactly what happened on my TV.

Oh yeah lose to the guy that goes "bleep blocking my bleep bleep I have to bleep drive around again bleep bleep bleepity bleep". lol

LOL you're patronizing me.

Been watching the sport long enough so I know when to sit back and enjoy and when to worry.

Most of my gripe is for Alan. He's proven to be a pretty bad CC when calculating strategies on whether to put 2 or 4.

You guys should spend the offseason seeing if you can get Darian Grubb out of Fedex Purgatory.

hope you heard the interview after the race. The Kyle did a good job of throwing his crew chief under the bus. Said he wanted to come in a lap later, but they called him in anyway..so I guess it was all their fault, he got caught out and couldn't get into his pit.

Yeah I agree.

I thought they missed out on Addington when he was let go by Kyle's group. At the time Letarte was on shaky grounds with Gordon so I thought it was the perfect time to make a move. Sadly it never happened.

Should I dig all your posts about Gordon being slow, this and that.

You really have no room to talk. You've gone as far as making sigs about Gordon's shortcomings.

That's really showing your support. Shut up.

It's no secret that I'm not the biggest Jeff Gordon fan, but I think the guy still has a lot left in the tank. I think he and Darian could really inflict some damage if they got together.

Get your panties out of a wad dude. It's a friendly forum and all the poking fun at each other is a ruse. Chillaaaaax

Funny way of showing it.

You're always dying to take a stab at me for some reason.

Me & everyone else

Coming back to the topic am I frustrated that it seems that Gordon played it safe on a track he is usually strong at? Sure. But by playing it safe & staying in championship contention going to a track he has a huge chance of winning at is even better. Good move. Drive for 5 still alive.

Yeah someone posted about it on the prerace thread about that.

RIP. Hope the wife makes it.

That was a pathetic race.

What i don't get is why everyone in the top 10 stayed single file for so long. It's one thing for the Chasers to not want to get out of line cause of point ramifications. But what the hell are all these other guys doing. This was their one shot at a win. Go for it. Not gonna get it like that.

Oh well. So many pathetically boring races this year.

Crew chief troubles are an ongoing thing for the 18 IMO
Many races this year where the car was worthless. A driver with that much talent deserves better
