Terry Blount nails it!

Wait just a minute! So you're trying to tell us having a big named driver in a less than popular/smaller race helps sell tickets? People want to see that???? You don't say!?
I think that the same business principles apply , but if you have an MBA , I'll bow to your expertise.

To say/elude that Kyle Larson didn't get his due because Kyle Bush won the race @ Bristol is complete BS. If anything his race against Busch bolstered opinions on the young driver. To say that nobody was talking about the guy is also complete BS. I was there. People were standing @ the end of that race rooting him on. People were talking about him for how well he did race against the best.

To say that drivers won't get recognized because of the influx of Cup drivers in superior equipment is also complete BS. To say that is the same as you and I saying that we can't recognize talent in the Nationwide Series. Nobody here would ever say that about themselves. Do you really think that the car owners out there, the ones that are capable of putting a driver in the seat, can't recognize talent?

I can honestly say that I've gone to Nationwide races because of Cup drivers being in there but I've never stayed away because of one. It's a cheaper ticket to see one of your drivers race. There are people that just go to the Nationwide races for that reason alone. Every driver from the Nationwide Series that I've heard comment on the subject has always said that they use them as a basis of measurement to see how they stack up. They use them to lean from, improve from. That's not a bad thing.

Last year, we saw more Nationwide Series drivers win races than we have in years and people thought it was great. Mainly that's because Kyle wasn't winning in his own equipment. Now he's winning again for JGR. Maybe everyone's problem with this is their unpronounced hatred of Kyle Busch. That's something that they need to get past in their own minds. Once they do that they'll enjoy the races for what they are, another race on Saturday's. ;)

Exactly. And I guarantee you that just because it was Busch, Larson even gained some fans from it.

Cup drivers should be able to drive, say, half of them.

End of story.

living in a city where all of our stick and ball sports teams are "farm" teams, There is no comparison between them and Nascar Nationwide motorsports. I, for one think that anybody that tries to compare Motorsports racing to stick and ball sports should have their head examined anyway. Also I think that whomever is so concerned with attendance, should either be a stock holder in the viewing outlet, NASCAR, or affiliated with the track. That is their business. Articles like this are written by the competition, people who don't have a dog in the hunt and nobodies who are trying to be somebodies. The real "shame" is the "offender" who keeps posting this drivel. "bushwackers" as they were called back in the day, have always been involved in NASCAR motorsports. About the only opposition that came from the drivers was years ago, when the series was pretty new and the prize money wasn't what it is today. Sure there are still whiners, anybody can see why, it is human nature to try to eliminate competition from Winston Cup and now Sprint Cup. But the bottom line is the team owners, the track owners, and the fans who pay for a ticket want it to stay that way, and they hold the big hammer.

you sir have a problem. Posting pornography, and cussing on a public forum is a problem. responsible adults don't do that. Most of your postings are off topic, and the posts that can be considered to be on topic, are mostly negative, designed to do more harm to the sport than good. So, so be it, you keep doing what you do and I will keep doing what I do. kopish?

Back in the day having a Cup driver in Nationwide (Bush) was a yardstick for the up and coming drivers to gauge themselves. I thought that was a good for the sport. There were just a few Cup drivers running any given weekend.

Now, more Cup drivers are running Nationwide and I think it is because they are there and can make another paycheck. I also think those that run in Nationwide get a chance to learn the track for the Cup race (I don't care if they say the cars are different - drivers can get information from running the track). Plus they are taking money and rides away from their possible replacements.

Team owners have the say on who drives their car. Team owners are influenced by sponsors. The paycheck, and the other info is a bonus to the driver chosen to drive.

Yeah, good call here. I remember when it was announced Jeff Gordon was going to run some Busch races in 1999 or 2000. It was a big deal at the time and he was running in an all-Pepsi car. Pepsi took out full page ads in NASCAR Illustrated (remember that?) promoting the fact that Jeff Gordon was going back to Busch. I bet sponsors play a big role in getting these Cup guys in Nationwide.

Can't afford to sponsor Kevin Harvick or Kyle Busch in Sprint Cup? Why not sponsor them all year in Nationwide. I'm convinced this is partly why the Buschwhacker phenonomeon has become so popular.

yeah sponsor driven. I noticed Kyle is running monster energy on the gibbs car. He had that sponsor last year when he ran his own car in Nationwide, and it stayed with the car even when he wasn't driving it. So far I haven't seen monster on KBM's car that Parker Klingerman is driving. They look pretty sponsor less with a big Toyota sign and a Bandit chipper company? on the rear quarter

There is a paved short track near where I live and once a year , the track brings in a Nascar driver or two to compete . They've had Reutiman , David Reagan , Bill Elliott , and many more . They pay these guys to come in , pay all of their expenses, etc. The local drivers donate , prepare and crew a top flight ride . The local sponsors get on board with a few bucks to help out. All of this is for the drivers and fans to have the privilege of seeing a Nascar driver race the local guys . Naturally , it is the only race all year that sells out .

There are plenty of short tracks across America that sell out without needing Cup drivers. As for Nationwide, nobody's there, just look at the stands. The standalone Nationwide races, with or without Cup guys, sell more tickets than the races being Cup Lite.

Imagine what the stands would look like without the Cup drivers.

You forget the media. crowd sell out? TV pays to cover the races, they sell commercial spaces..remember all the complaining you do about commercials? check into how much TV pays to televise a race will ya. Fans are great at the track, but they are not the whole story but a smaller piece of the package. This ain't the Saturday night dirt track.

I don't engage in pissing competitions. Want to hurl out attacks like "mini Bill O'Reilly"? Take that bull**** to the Podium. In the mean time, eat a taco.

No reason to be mad Andy . That's what happens when the entire world disagrees with you.

The entire world? Mad? I'm all about debating but once the personal attacks get hurled out, I'm out of here. The personal attacks and insults belong in The Podium. Otherwise, I don't engage in pissing competitions.

No. My opinion is mostly about those who currently have a full-time Cup ride, especially in a top team.

This is the way I look at it.. they'd all LOVE to have a full time cup ride someday . Meanwhile they get to run against and size up their future competitors . They get to work alongside some of their future crew chiefs and owners and teammates .When they someday get a cup ride and walk into the cup garage , they won't be looking stupid and peeing themselves .:D

But it is ok for you to make personal attacks about anything and anybody, post up porn, cuss your head off, and spread negative drivel about the sport, and not expect to draw any heat

Kind of a 'Drive by' posting mentality. In and out quick. Get the thread count up and start some crap while he's at it.

I have never understood why anyone would want to boost their thread or post count up, because all it does is point out that they probably don't have a very exciting life.;)
