Testing at Daytona

Another shot of the new fuel can from Daytona testing.....

I didn't watch the testing except for a few minutes. I'm sure this was addressed, but never heard it. I noticed the cars were kicked out in the back like we've seen before. Instead of the right side being the one kicked out, the left side was kicked out. It was very noticeable. Was anything said why the cars were kicked out to the left side instead the right side? It looked odd.
I seen that too. Very odd to see the left side of the car, coming down the straightaway. I noticed it most on Steve Wallaces car. I figured thats why he was slowest...LOL!!

Kudos to Speeds coverage of Daytona testing. I'm one of the first when it comes to complaining about television coverage of NASCAR but Speed's online coverage has been excellent over the past three days. Both the on track and media room Q&A. Good stuff. I'm not sure what it took for them to get the internet rights from Turner for this coverage but hopefully this sort of thing can continue. Perhaps the Duel? :beerbang:

I agree. This is helping my NASCAR itch...

It looks like those two car runs from Talladega. What are they, about 12 mph faster with two hooked up over the single car runs?

Yesterday 181 to 195, close enough to 15 mph for me.

Stewarts 197mph will result in yet another reduction in the plate size, I betcha.

NASCAR may not reduce the plate size after all.....

Officials not worried about speeds at Thunder
Two-car drafts top 198 mph, but Darby doesn't expect any changes to plates

NASCAR officials are satisfied heading into next month's Speedweeks despite Preseason Thunder's top speeds that were faster than those registered at December's Goodyear tire test at Daytona International Speedway. There was as much as a 14 mph differential between qualifying and drafting speeds during three days of testing.

One morning session was rained out, which left one morning exclusively devoted to single-car runs and then four sessions in which drafting was allowed. However, single-car and two-car runs still dominated, with no drafts of more than six cars seen.

NASCAR managing director of competition John Darby said he expected nearly a 5 mph difference between two-car and mass-pack drafts, and he expressed no concern.

I hope to see those two car runs like we saw at Talladega this past visit to that track. Good stuff IMO.

Scary IMHO. 2 cars hit 198. Will a 4-6-10 car breakaway reach 200+?
