146 driver rating for JJ, and KB and Brad pull up the rear at 125. That's why he has 5 championships.

More thoughts about Brad hustling his car through the dog leg to pass JJ.

First of all running JJ up the track afterwards in the turns was risky. I wouldn't call it dirty, and it isn't FenderBumpers Ice man portrayal either. Brad was a little past his limits.

But that dog leg pass, was a thing of beauty. Breaking down the race in small frames, That dog leg moment or frame was a thing of beauty, almost artistic, even with it's imperfections.
Certain things inspire like a batters graceful swing in a baseball game, a moment that captures the essence. Well I think Sundays move was even more inspiring. Maybe a kid someone got it and felt too, and now the little one goes to sleep dreaming that they will be a racer one day too.

That's why 500 miles isn't too long to race. There is a set up, as in this case it was the Brads pit road struggles. So he rolls the dice to compensate or regain the track position, then he fights like a mad man to make it work. That's a professional and a freak all rolled up in one, but most importantly that's good racing.
And a good race fan knows that sometimes the most inspiring moments do not always win.

People trash the racing quality today. But we have it good and there are still warriors, rugged and gritty that will put it all the line. You don't get them in every race but when it happens it is a shame not celebrate them.
Even when a driver you hate makes a great run.

That tap for room move was well executed.

The way I saw it, JJ crowded Brad in the turns until he got loose. I don't blame Brad for not backing off. If a guy want's to work that hard to get you loose, lean on him so he knows he got what he was working for. Coming off the turn before the dog leg, JJ ran down on Brad and made contact, then pushed him low into the leg. It looked like JJ expected Brad to run in the grass at the leg, but Brad made some room. Brad was running JJ up the track to get him loose, JJ was running Brad tight and getting him loose. Good hard racing.
