Texas Pre Race Thread

yeah as they say wish in one hand and...you know the rest. Rockingham is done, it can't draw flies sorry to say.

LOL I would sacrifice both Texas dates, a goat and a devils chant to have ONE race at Rockingham.

Texas will NEVER lose a date just because of its raw market size. NASCAR would move the Daytona 500 to Texas before moving one of its dates to a real racetrack.

I hate that place with a passion. It's the most boring track ever put on the NASCAR schedule. But it ain't going anywhere - ever. We're stuck with it.

Not to mention Eddie Gossage is the best promoter in NASCAR. He always manages to conjure up some gimmick to get fans in the stands - even if they know the racing will be 500 miles of way too long, boring, cars driving 500 yards away from each other and not being able to get within 10 carlengths because of aeropush.

It was almost cold enough to snow last week at Martinsville, got to go south to race this time of the year.

What about the fact that over 6 million people live in the Metroplex? That doesn't have anything to do with TMS' high attendance rate?

Over 16 million people live in the Greater Los Angeles area and Auto Club Speedway can't sell 84,000 seats.
I'll redeem myself next year. Haven't been to a race there since 03' I believe.

Hmmm ...cars getting spread out . No aero problems passing ? Maybe ...oh no ...the best car wins....But is that what fans want ?... Or do they really prefer pack racing where it's impossible to pass because of aero push?..Hmmm
The fans want a race with tonnes of passing and restarts, but no cautions. A surprise winner with their driver leading the most laps, tight racing but with their driver in front by 5 seconds. Passing, but not due to tire wear or lack of aero push. They want to be able to have their input taken, but will always complain regardless of the outcome. I think what the fans want most... the next race! Or the idea of what it could bring.. which is, most of the time.. not what they hoped. Aka boring... Pffff... fans... who needs em?! LOL

I like it.

Yeah I have a feeling that race will have a few more filled seats next year. I hope its just as good. They should never repave another track... the best racing this year has been on the older surface tracks.

AKA A race at Bristol/Martinsville/Richmond/Atlanta/Fontana/Sonoma/some other tracks I'm forgetting with no cautions. There are some great tracks out there but unfortunately the number of dates at those venues is smaller than the number of dates at cookie cutters, especially late in the season.

You know cautionless.. strung out races can be boring but its really the best racing. The one way that the fastest car wins most of the time. You have to have your car good from the start or ur screwed. Through green flag pit stops and long green runs, if you can be in the lead near the end of one of those races you've earned it. Most people just hate seeing their driver 15 seconds behind in 8th.. but if he was faster.. he wouldn't be.. I guarantee that the fans of Greg Biffle didn't mind seeing him win by 8 seconds last year. Does Biffle have fans? lol

Yup.. I love watching the lead cars catch lap traffic at Dover or Bristol.. you know its gona bunch the field up and there's great racing for the lead.

Furniture Row Major Announcement today @ 11am et.

Click here for Live feed. Begins @ 11am

I wonder what this could all be about?
Well on nascar.com it has a big picture of Truex next to the link for the conference lol.. the only thing Im wondering is whether or not he got to do one year like he wanted or if they got him for multiple... I hope multiple but if not he could always renew it once he cant find anything next season.

Last race neither JJ, Kenseth, Gordon (potential race winning car but had a mechanical failure), nor Harvick had a great day. KyBu stole the show so this weekend's point battle might get interesting.

The story of Gordon's year before like 3 races before the chase.

I like Texas and the fact that tire wear is actually a concern unlike everywhere now.
