That didn't take long.

That's a story? A one sided interview? I'm not backing Kurt but the "I'm a reporter" comment reaks of azzholyness.
Yeah, that was nothing more that a drama grab by the drama queen Marty Smith. Like SST, I ain't backing Kurt here, but that was pretty uncalled for by anyone's standards. "Oooh, look. Kurt's upset and leaving, let's chase him down and see if we can record the drama!"

Another great post on the subject. I know Andy will do what he can to defend the "media", but come on enough is enough. They know Kurt is a hot head, yet they keep poking him and poking him. Then when he blows up they are like "What did I do? Kurt is just an a**hole, everyone watch my show or read my article on how Kurt was a big meanie to me."

Marty is my favorite reporter but this is non-story. It's not even thread worthy IMO.

Why doesn't Busch just go to the washroom and stay in there 'til he cools down. If the media wants to hang around outside a crapper, so be it.

Honestly it looks like that is what he was trying to do. However if he doesn't talk to the media it gets told that he "blew off the interviews." So can he really win either way?

If a person says that they need to go to the toilet, who's to agrue with them?

The media is like a venue of vultures and they'll pick his bones clean if he doesn't come up with a better solution for dealing with them.

Marty is acting like a whining bitch. "Whaaaaa, he refused my help after I was so nice to him".

Marty saying he followed Kurt because he didn't know why he left is total BS. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

exactly! This is really just more ESPN BS. If they are not part of the story they sure as hell will try and wedge themselves in the middle of it. Unless it makes them look bad.

When he walked thru the door KB said "bring your camera". :sarcasm: or not why wasn't the camera on? What about the handheld recording devices everyone carries today?
We have nothing to go on except the one sided pot stirring by a agenda driven "reporter".,

With technology today you would think reporters would be using their camera phones or a sony flip. Get HD quality video and audio for all your interviews. If the video is worth a damn don't use it. Just grab the quotes from the audio that you need.

Exactly. Kurt left because he didn't want to talk to the media, and Marty was following with his camera man in tow. I guess he felt Kurt would treat him special because he did a nice piece on Kurt earlier. I knew all this media sheet would start when the new crew came in, because the Fox crew made headlines and they felt left out.

ESPN Still have what 5 weeks until they take over?

Kurt was not in the wrong this time. He tried to avoid the media to avoid problems and the media followed.

He can't just blow the media off if he's a top-3 finisher. He could take some time to gain his composure, though.

Maybe that's where he was going when ESPN went out of their way to follow and confront him.

That's definitely possible. Even if he was blowing them off, they still shouldn't follow him if he has chosen to not speak to them. It would then be up to Nascar to deal with him.

Kurt's suspension was a story. If he doesn't ever want to be asked questions by the media, he should go race at Old Dominion Speedway where he doesn't have to worry about the media.

Actually, the media should ignore him altogether since he doesn't war media coverage. Then when he wins and TNT and ESPN aren't in victory lane and his picture isn't on the front page, his sponsors and his team will take care of the problem.

The press is always out for the story and they will go all out to get it, even if they cross the boundaries sometimes.

Yay for blaming the press. That's what we do best on here. :)
Well, since the "press" (you in particular) have a habit of blaming everything and everyone, (go back and read through your history), how's it feel to have the shoe on the other foot.

Face it, what Smith pulled was shady reporting, at best.
But nope, the media is always right.

I understand that, but there are times when the media goes too far to get a story. KB left the area, Marty had to know he wasn't up for interviews.

His intent was to provoke a loose cannon into a confrontation. I doubt that's in the job description.

Just like every other profession or occupation the media has it's share of azzhats. Na$car has attracted more than it's fair share. You need to realize some of those reporting push the issue just to get a reaction and a headline. The sooner you realize they are azzhats and not worthy of you defending them the better off you'll be.

Kurt did nothing wrong in that situation. Then again I didn't have an issue with the incident 2 weeks ago. These reporters try to make something out of everything these days.

Already ? Another thread to ignore . Does anybody have something that hasn't already been said on either side of the argument ?
