The 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500

More than Taps, more than the anthem, nothing in any opening ceremony moves me like Back Home.
It is probabaly my favorite pre race tradition, I avoid most of them but I always want to be around for this one.
Excellent performance today, but I think of Jim Nabors everytime I hear it.

The drivers and crews are the pros and I dont anything compared to their skills or knowledge. But I dont really understand why they get so strung out before taking the green. I would think they would take off in a tighter formation.
The cars must be a bigger handful or a beast to handle than most would expect.

Tradition and being three-wide, I suspect. They bunch up at other tracks where they start two-wide.

Pretty heavy impact for Kat. Damn.

Wasn’t really any room for her to avoid RHR, not her doing.

I’m not a follower as much as I used to be for INDYCAR, but is the frame that damaged on that car or they couldn’t repair the panels and put it back out I got some too used to NASCAR

The frame probably isn't damaged but the rest of the car is torn up.

No point in trying to fix it, she'd be 100 laps down. She's headed to Charlotte.

It’s amazing how unique a true 500-mile oval race with no artificial stoppages and forced pit strategy is at this point.
The absence of planned cautions is also a delight when multiple strategies play out at road and street courses.

If you plan properly, you can mount a towel rod on the bathroom wall between the end of the Trucks and the green at Indy.

It doesn't look level in the photo but it is.
