The Announcers Thread

If you're on cable, you probably don't get any 4K content at all and if you do, you probably have to pay extra for it. And many live sports and many movies that are 4K are actually just upscaled HD.

When something is shot in true 4K, shot on film and remastered, or the remastering process is meticulous, the picture is stunning.

The digitally remastered 4K version of Titanic, for instance, looks better than most modern movies. Of course many modern movies look like ass because it's all CGI and CGI is actually, somehow, getting worse.
THIS!!!!!

Was listening to Sirius this morning and Larry was talking that he had a case of Bell's Palsy, which was the reason for his appearance on the coverage
Old school Larry is a jewel to listen to during the broadcasts. He figured things with pencil and paper back when a crew chief was a crew chief instead of a order taker for engineers who are running the show. You can really tell the difference when the gerbils try to figure out fuel mileages on their own and they aren't even close.

Was the CW crew in studio? I saw a bit of the pre-race and noticed Kligerman was in a studio. I didn't get to catch the race but saw the highlights and heard Kligerman calling the race.

IF there's a WNBA season, that's a big if, NASCAR and Versant (USA) need to use the hell out of "Spicy Sophie" for cross promotion.

Sophie Cunningham is one of the most popular players, is a pretty avid NASCAR fan from everything I've seen. And she's HOT! 🔥

VERSANT actually went out and signed Spicy Sophie to be a contributor for USA Sports.

This company just continues to make excellent decisions.

FOX and The CW are EXACT opposites in every way.

FOX: 4K video; solid looking, clean and readable graphics; bad camera work; terrible commentary.

CW: SD video; terrible, hard to read graphics; good camera work; fantastic commentary.

I prefer good camera angles at low-resolution over a hi-res picture of a poor camera angle. What's the point of 4K of a single car, or Fox's obsession with extended in-car views. CW may be lower res but at least it's showing me what's going on.

I'd rather see a grainy picture of a nekkid lady than a high res one of just her elbow. ;)

NEP & Game Creek Video are the major assets for each broadcast.
The Technical Directors who are inept, are the ones to blame.
The toolbox may have everything you need, but if the mechanic doesn't utilize said tools to their potential, you get what we have. A Snap On Box with Valvoline techs.

You haven't seen CW in SD on a 4K TV then. It's BAD. Like watching a 144p video on YouTube uploaded 20 years ago bad.
