The cost of leasing engines from Hendrick

gotta pay to play how fast you wanna go?

I know with the hendrick motors you get all of their tech that they developed in the motors. Last i heard rick has every set of heads crushed after use so they dont get sold to other teams.

When the Busch North ran the V-6 a local engine builder here leased engines, $20,000 per. He also traveled to the tracks, only he was allowed to touch them. Now that was more than a few years ago and in the Busch series so 50-70k per engine today for a cup car seems reasonable <gulp>.

Until the crate rule came about he was building and selling Late Model engines for 25+k,,,,to win $1500

Them asphalt boys use steel engines still dont they? I heard that asphalt racing was to hard on motors to use the all aluminum ones like the dirt latemodels use. Something about either the sustained rpm or the real hard stop and acceleration on the asphalt tracks.
