The Hammer has fallen.. Kez, Logano and Company

Nope, besides there is a possible 48 points under the new system, not 43.

#24-Jeff Gordon and team owner 25 points [Phoenix 11-11-2012], current system.
#27-Paul Menard and team owner 25 points [Michigan 8/19/2012], current system.

#33-Clint Bowyer and team owner 150 points [New Hampshire 9-19-2010], old system.

So Bowyer 2010 would be the biggest.

Statement from MWR regarding the Truex, Jr. penalty: (emphasis mine)

"Michael Waltrip Racing is sensitive to working within the guidelines of NASCAR policy. This infraction clearly occurred as a result of a malfunction caused by race conditions. Therefore, we will not appeal. We thank NASCAR for providing a fair and equitable platform for all of its competitors and respect its decisions."

If it wasn't their fault, wouldn't their appeal? Michael Waltrip is too nice to be a car owner.

Nope, he dont want to open a larger can of worms like he did with the jet fuel, got worse everytime he opened his goofy mouth.

the hornaday penalty is too harsh IMO, 25 grand is probably a decent chunk of change to ron at this point in his career. I also do not remember points being deducted for such deals even if done during a caution flag. Ron said after the race he felt bad about it and I am sure was apologetic in the nascar hauler. Look I understand they don't want things happening during caution, OK I think a fine is probably enough no point deduction OR they should have parked ron for the rest of the race.

Now, the tire changer and fuel guy will have to be the crew chief and car chief, so now might be a good time to put in an application for an entry level job. Heck you might just get the team manager position.:D

Yeah, the kid who sweeps up the body shop is going to be the director of competition.

I would consider this the biggest, not by points but when have they gone as far as suspending not only the crew chiefs but the car chiefs, engineers and team managers? That's a way bigger deal imo than 25 points.

Anyone remember the car chief, engineers and dir of comp ever suspended before?

That's why I think this is the worst one. I mean come on they might as well suspend the gas man too.. he might have known about it! Did the cars not go through inspection prior to qualifying? I think that will be a big part of the appeal. Worked for the 48. I'm hoping they can at least retract all the excessive suspensions. Crew chiefs/car chiefs I can see but to go as far as the engineers and team manager is unheard of as far as I know.

This is why I have cringed whenever Brad would start running his mouth. People lauded him for speaking his mind but there is always the potential that your own words can be thrown back at you. I know this first hand. haha

You really need to expand your vocabulary. This has always been a very good family friendly place. Let's try to keep it that way.

What are you talking about?! Did I swear? No.. so if you have a problem with anything else I said there I really don't care. Honestly.. I've sat and read that a few times and I have absolutely no clue what your problem is. Explain please. Which parts are not "family friendly"?

Losing the team engineers really hurt, but this seems like a scam an engineer would pull so I see why they are suspended. Going to hurt both the 2 & 22 for sure.

Looks like someone already did some editing on your behalf.

What did I say? I really don't remember lol and when I read my post I didn't see an issue.. inbox me because I really do forget. My bad, and I apoligize if I did say something distasteful I'm involved in a few different forums and groups. Some care some don't and sometimes I forget to watch my mouth in certain places. Although I do have a pretty decent vocabulary just sometimes the best way to say something is in the simplest words :p lol

I remember now, and I apologize to anyone who read it. Like I said I am involved in other forums and groups and many don't care. Sometimes I forget to watch my mouth in the wrong places. I had just come from a Jimmie Johnson bashing page so it was just kind of on the tip of my tongue. Again, I apologize and in the future I will not post things like that.

If you're referring to the 48 car at the Daytona 500 in 2012, that car didn't turn a single lap on track and as a matter of fact it didn't even make it to the "claw" for measurement. That's where NASCAR bit themselves and how the 48 team won the appeal. Once the C-Pillar was cut off it measured the same as a legal one. As for the Penske cars, they have the parts and will be able to show the infractions to the appeal committee. I agree w/ crew chiefs being suspended but the car chief is a stretch.

No I'm referring to the Penske cars. They qualified with those parts. If they passed the inspection before qualifying that could be a key part of their appeal.

Edit: Never mind, gotcha .. well here's hopin'.. lol

Anyone got a link to where they show a detail of the violation?

The way I read it, it sounded like the big infraction was (I guess) oval (rather than round) holes for the mounts so the suspension could slide a bit to provide greater grip. I also read on one of the news stories that some of the parts were not magnetic steel, also a violation.

Scroll down a bit to video extras in the bottom right video "Penske Penalties" ..look at around 3:40 Hammond explains it with graphics

Yeah, when Michael Waltrip was caught with the "jet fuel" in his Toyota engine in '07 at Daytona, the director of competition was suspended, too. As I recall, Waltrip was shocked, shocked to find gambling in this establishment and fired him.

MW was covering his ass, he was in it up to his eyebrows and everyone in the garage knew it.

This appeal is being heard today. What are the chances of it being reduced? I'm guessing it's likely after yesterday.

yeah me too. One can only guess at this point. If it is like the Penske, they will reduce everything but points and money.
