The New and Improved Allmendinger Thread

AJs story is fishy at best. I have taken Adderall as prescribed since December of 2001. In my case it saved my career and probably a few other things.

But you just don’t give away your adderall pills, it is a controlled substance, you get 30 per 30 day period, and if you accidently take 2 on one day, you will do without them for another day during the 30 day period. Going a day without them is very difficult and almost a sleep in day, because you crash without them. It may be different for children and I have been told by teachers it slows down children but it speeds up Adults.

The supposed person who gave it to him is pretty much an idiot, they had to know the seriousness, and the risk if they comprehend anything at all about racing and the drug. If this person is real they should be speaking up, and admitting to the disservice they provided to AJ, rather than cowardly watching his career die without a confession or a peep.

I wish AJ the best, but I do have a hard time believing his account and he had more credibility prior to offering this excuse. I also have a close relative who has battled substance abuse for about 35 years. I have done everything I could to break his habit; I have been a devil and an angel. I am not proud of it but I have physically tried to stop him with my fist once when I was younger like a tough dad, and I have tried to be as loving a brother could be most other times, and I do care about my brother. During that time I have learned from his crowd they always have a great story to gain your sympathy, much better than the one AJ is currently pushing. Usually any trust offered to them is abused, been there and done that more times than I can count.

I bet car owners and sponsors in spite of more polished speeches, will draw a tougher line than I do, his cup days are done, you don’t sink millions into that kind of risk.

Note: I am not advocating the use of Adderall; if I had a choice I would not take it and I have never used any other drugs. I have never even been drunk, and I don’t smoke.

Greg are you purposefully makeing your text smaller so I can't read it? Gimme a break man!

Speaking of real girls I am glad Ditzmeister is here, a lot of fun and classy imo too. But she hasn't posted in 5 days, hopefully she is well.

Between AJ's media blitz yesterday, and Randy Travis' issue last night, I'm really getting tired of all these over-exposed Dingers.

Yeah it sad to see Travis self destruct, I thought he had more common sense.

Allmendinger tested positive for Adderall: AJ Allmendinger tested positive for prescription Adderall, the suspended NASCAR driver told ESPN in an exclusive sit down interview Tuesday. Adderall is typically prescribed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Allmendinger said. He does not have ADHD and therefore had no prescription. He explained that he had been out in Louisville, KY, the Wednesday before the Quaker State 400 race at Kentucky Speedway, and was tired. A friend, Allmendinger said, handed him a pill and stated it was a workout supplement that would give him energy. Allmendinger ingested the pill. Two days later he was randomly-tested at the racetrack, a test he would ultimately fail. He said neither NASCAR nor its drug testing team from Nashville-based Aegis Labs would inform him of the specific substance in question until after the B Sample was tested July 24, only that he had tested positive for amphetamine. It was not until he was informed it was Adderall that he traced it back to that night in Kentucky. He said he does not abuse Adderall, rather that he took it just once. Allmendinger is currently going through NASCAR's Road to Recovery program, which he said he hopes to complete by the end of August. He said his case is being treated more as a stress-coping methodology than a drug rehabilitation (ESPN)(8-7-2012)

Completed by the end of August really stuck out at me, also the way they are treating it. I wonder if Penske was aware of that before he made the decision to terminate him. Also I'm sure he will be cleared to drive for the start of 2013 season or before, which makes 3 of the veteran free agents former Penske drivers.

Who knows, it may not have been up to Penske. The sponsor may have wanted him out regardless of when he was to finish the program. But then again, who's to say Penske doesn't resign him? Stranger things have happened.

Until I hear otherwise, Adderall and stress treatment are just more public relations disinformation by AJ and his camp. Adderall sounds better than uppers. Stress therapy sounds better than drug rehab.

A Bitter Pill To Swallow

adderall-01.bmp

A popular nickname for the prescription drug Adderall is "college crack." Students use it as a pick-me-up that aids in staying focused for a long period of time. That makes some sense, since the drug was originally created to help control Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD.)

Adderall comes in both capsule and pill form, as shown above. It's easy to get illegally and has become one of the most widely-abused forms of prescription medication on college campuses. Away from studying, Adderall is also a hit in bars. Used for its mood-heightening and energy-adding effects, it makes users feel euphoric and takes away reality for a while. Hardcore users crush the pills and snort them like cocaine.

On Tuesday ESPN's Marty Smith posted an interview with suspended NASCAR driver AJ Allmendinger. For the first time, Allmendinger disclosed his belief that his positive drug test was triggered by Adderall. On the Wednesday before the Kentucky race, Allmendinger says he ingested one pill given to him in the early evening by an unnamed friend while out on the town.

Can anyone imagine having a Nascar Cup career derailed because an unnamed friend handed you a pill and you decided to swallow it?

That's one reason why a require all my friends or potential friends to have names ;)

Clearly marked pills. AJ is a tard, or he's lying to preserve his image. Gee.....I can't decide which is more likely.

Penske: Allmendinger Awaits NASCAR Reinstatement

AJ Allmendinger has reportedly completed NASCAR’s Road to Recovery program, and now waits – somewhat patiently – for NASCAR to rule on his request for reinstatement.

Allmendinger was suspended by the sanctioning body on July 7 after failing a random substance abuse test for what was later revealed to be Adderall. He later admitted taking the drug after being offered an unspecified pill by a “friend of a friend” to combat fatigue.

Now, the former Penske Racing driver appears primed for a return. He surfaced at the IndyCar season finale at California’s Auto Club Speedway last weekend at the request of his former boss, Roger Penske. While Allmendinger did not speak to reporters, Penske said his former driver completed NASCAR’s Road to Recovery three weeks ago.

“I wanted AJ to come out,” said Penske at the track. “I wanted him to get some visibility because he’s a good guy.” Penske also said there could be a spot for Allmendinger on his 2013 IndyCar roster, if sponsorship and other circumstances come together. The team has yet to resign Ryan Briscoe for next season, as teammate to 2012 title contender Will Power.
