is anyone familiar with the type of injury tony had?? it sure seems like a very long time for someone to be recovering from a broken leg. Also why exactly did his leg get broken in the first place. yes I saw the crash but what inside the car caused this

Should Tony sit out Daytona? According to what I've read he's only gonna be about 65% healed when the season starts. Maybe it would be best for him to sit that out, because of all the crazy crashes we see there? He'd have plenty of time to make up for it.

Especially with the win you're in points thing that's been discussed.

His tibia and fibula were broken in half.....Im not sure what the part was but it was something from the suspension I think that came through the floor and into his leg or something like that... don't quote me on it.

The guy had a compound fracture of his lower leg. The bones shattered and tore through the skin exposing him to a high risk of infection. The healing process for this kind of traumatic injury is quite extensive. It wasn't your normal 'broken leg'.

That x-ray that you posted is not Tony Stewart's leg. That pic is far from what he experienced.

I duno I was trying to find out what part of the car hurt him... it said Tony Stewart xray in google so I clicked and got that... lol it was something like that wasn't it? Same bones anyway.. I knew it was sticking out of the skin... thought that pic seemed weird but I mean hey... lol

You knew it was exiting his skin but you posted a picture of bones obviously still on the interior...

He had a second surgery to place a steel rod inside the bone, making it very strong. From what I've read, the chances of breaking the same leg in an accident are extremely small. I'm not sure why he still has a limp 6 months after the accident. Maybe the smaller bone is giving him problems.

At that media thing the other day, he had a bad limp when he walked back down the steps off the stage. He didn't look comfortable at all walking.

I hate to sound negative, but I do not think we will see Tony at his old caliber again. He isn't healed and it will be some time before he is, and with age already not on his side things just aren't looking that great for him.

It was disturbing to see him still gimped. Age and a lack of conditioning surely has a lot to do with it.
