Tour De France 2021

Stage 18: Pogacar wins back to back high mountain stages 17 and 18. This time
he did it in front of his parents. This 22 year old is a very special rider. Cant wait
to see what he does in Saturdays ITT. Most of all , I want to see how Sepp Kuss does.
The ITT is what the TV commentators think is Sepps biggest achilles heal that could keep
him from being #1 on a team.Kuss finished in 45th on the Stage 5 ITT.

The most significant riders who abandoned to focus on the Olympics are :
Van Der Poel : Van der Poel's early Tour de France exit not good for cycling, says Eddy Merckx | Cyclingnews
Nibali:Vincenzo Nibali abandons Tour de France 2021 | Cycling Weekly

Stage 19: After two early peloton crashes, I think the GC contenders and
Cavendish with his hopes of getting stage win # 35 was put on the back burner.
With Cav especialy , his legs were probably still a little mushy from the previous
two days of high mountains. So we set our site on the Champs to see if Cavendish
will win the sprint as he has 4 or 5 times before. So todays grinding break away
winner goes to Mohoric. He seperated himself from the large break away group
and said adios for the last 40 K by himself. This was his second stage win this tour.
It is quite possible Pogacar will stay in and end up with the Yellow, White, and
poka Dots jersies on the Champs. I dont know if that has ever happened.

There's only one Cat. 4 Mountain left so Pogacar will win the polka dot jersey. It already happened last year.

Greipel announced earlier today that he will retire at the end of the year.

Stage 20 : Imagine the worlds greatest cyclist following you in the team car
while you preform a time trial and you actually win it. Thats what Wout Van Aert
did today while Eddy Merckx followed him and they are both
Belgiums. What a special moment. Overall , no change in the top 10 standings.
So here we go to one of the biggest stage 21's of a TdF that I can remember.
Mark Cavendish going for the record 35 TdF stage wins tomorrow.
Shame Greipel is done the end of the year. One of the all time great sprinters
and just a beast of a man on the bike which won him 11 TdF stages. He turned
39 yesterday July 16th. He has been on pro teams for 19 years, time as come.

Stage 21: Well thats something you wont see every day, the winner of the ITT the
day before wins the sprint stage on the Champs. Way to go Wout Van Aert !
Sorry for Cav, he finished in a close 3rd. 22 year old Pogacar takes the big winner prize
for his 2nd in a row. Now time to deal with TdF withdrawls.
