Toyota-Save Mart 350-Sonoma Race Thread

they need to develop them then. The ringers put them in the money. If they can't do better then the ringers, they sit on the bench until they can.

Maybe. But where are Hill and Cassill going to develop their road racing skills from when they're replaced with guys that may do marginally better?

They probably don't care. The marginal increase in purse winnings probably outweighs their concerns in developing Hill and Cassill as road racers.

Nationwide or wait until they go full-time, I suppose. Landon ran at Road America yesterday and Hill is still running just a partial schedule in the #32. In the meantime, Boris and Ron brought home more winnings and kept the car in good shape.

I find it somewhat ironic that watching today's relatively good race, constantly interrupted by commercials, was like reading this thread of relatively good posts about the race, constantly interrupted by Andy's complaints about those commercials.

It's funny that teams still bring in "ringers" like Said and Fellows. 18th and 22nd respectively. What's the point of ringers again?

The ringers finished ten spots ahead of what the regulars would have.

Worked 12 hours and watching the dvr now. The national anthem fiasco was the absolute worst performance of all times.
American Idol should forsake him.
His mommy should disown him.
His dog should forsake him they are man's best friend, but that doesnt mean they should suffer that kind of crap (and my dogs told me they would if I ever was that offensive).

We should send him to Iran for a win/win. They get a recreational stoning, and we eliminate any risk of a repeat. All drivers should get 5 bonus points for suffering the crap.

As for the wives standing for the anthem, Miss Ron Fellows struck the best pose in my Humble opinion.

how do you know that smoke?

Boris Said has five Top 10s at Sonoma in the last eleven races there. Fellows had a couple in '03 and '05.

Cassill finished 31st at Sonoma and 23rd at Watkins Glen in his two Cup road course starts. Timmy Hill has one finish better than 22nd in six Nationwide road course starts.

For a low-budget operation, the decision is pretty simple to make.

As for your last comment of your post, you have a good eye.

That is less then 50 %. were did they finish the other times?

Boris Said career Cup road course stats:

Starts - 26
Average Finish - 22.38
Top 5 - 1
Top 10 - 7

Ron Fellows career Cup road course stats:

Starts - 23
Average Finish - 25.43
Top 5 - 3
Top 10 - 5

I'm still not seeing anything that suggests starting Timmy Hill and/or Landon Cassill is a better move.

then they need hire a different every day driver. what are they racing for?

FAS Lane Racing debuted in 2011 and Circle Sport debuted in 2012; they're not going to sign an elite driver and light the world on fire immediately.

you need to look a little closer at the stats. Boris was driving for Hendrick.com.something, Fellows was driving with Canadian tire on his car. Make better sense now? ah yes sponsors, those two scrubs don't have money on the car. AND Hill hasn't finished on the lead lap all year, Cassill a couple of times. Boris and Fellows both finished on the lead lap.

Hill...ave finish...34.1
Cassill ave finish 30.5 there is a whole bunch of money difference right there compared to Boris and Fellows

I don't see where we disagree, lol.

Since there is no Yahoo fantasy thread this weekend, I will post about my miserable points day here. I only got the third most points of everyone - a lousy 330 points.
And I didn't make it to the top of the standings - I'm only second in the summer standings. :(
