Truck RACE thread --- Kentucky

William Byron has so much talent, it's unreal. He just decided to start racing about four years ago. Doesn't have years of experience in racing like the rest who began racing when they were five.

He might be a "rich kid" but he might also be the best driver there is.

I heard he started iracing when he was 8 and finally got an opportunity 3 or 4 years ago

Very nice win. Earned it. But what was up with JHM and Hemric not being able to run a line at the end of that race???

Byron's glued to the bottom. No way around him unless you wreck him.

True, I would have liked to see what would have happened if he listened to Phil's advice and gone a tad higher as opposed to on the apron.

Nemechek needs some sponsors man.

If he gets some consistent funding, that team would be vicious.

Byron just killing it though and KBM is just killing it with their trucks. Absolute face of the field.

Yep. He did get to run in the best equipment there is though. But, he did great things in it.

Toyota's got so much talent. Erik Jones, Daniel Suarez, Christopher Bell, William Byron and Todd Gilliland. Jones, Bell and Byron are all better than Elliott, from what I've seen in Late Models. TRD is gonna dominate this sport for 20 years.

Jumping the gun.

If they even get close to what Chase is doing now with the big boys, I will say yes. It's too soon for the majority what Chase is doing now is pretty damn impressive.

All of these guys are top-notch equipment, so I mean it's an open-ended conversation at the moment.

I'll retype it since you didn't see it the first time:

"From what I've seen in Late Models"

Late models are completely different from stock cars...

I get what you're saying though Andy. Honestly, you watch these guys a lot and have plenty of experience seeing them. I could only wish to see them in action.

A lot of these guys had to work a bit harder than Chase, he's had funding from the beginning.

A lot of things to factor in. Chase Elliott is damn good and will be one of the future greatest ever drivers. But these guys here have done a lot as well, with a lot less and without getting the same favors from sanctioning bodies and racetracks that Elliott got.

As far as Toyota dominance, I mean, Kyle Busch is only just getting started. He's got at least 15 years left. Plus, all these young guns coming up the ranks.

Not to mention, Toyota is so much more invested in racing than Ford and Chevy. Chevy's invested in Chase Elliott though -- as they should be.

Only so many spots.

Some are going to fall through the cracks down the line.

Toyota has a great problem though.

Gibbs needs to find a way to retire Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards pretty quickly. And start thinking about what to do with Denny Hamlin.

You mean those 3 guys with race wins? Yeah ... they should most certainly retire.

Drivers are easy to get rid of ... their contracts have term.

Not to mention sponsors.

Dewalt just exteneded their contract, Matt is not going anywhere.

Let's not forget Subway/Stanley/Subway for Carl. These guys have loads of sponsorship money flowing in.

Denial is the first step before acceptance ;)
I could be the greatest putt putt golfer in the world but I'm not about to go out onto a real golf course and whoop up on Jordan Spieth or Rory Mcilroy. Just sayin.

Chase set a record for most top 5s for a rookie in his first 14 or 15 races and could easily have 2 wins right now. When any of these kids even sniff that their first year in cup get back to me.

Wow, all those guys have long term contracts with TRD? How long does Toyota sign them for? I'm sure they are not signed for 20 years, but is it even half that? The reason I ask is, Bubba Wallace raced trucks with TRD support, but it was a year-to-year deal.

Great Truck race, young guns getting r done. Young John really had a strong truck in an underfunded team. Hope he gets a chance in top notch equipment.
Byran is bad to the bone, a natural.

I'd like to see Nemechek successful in the big leagues driving for NEMCO Motorsports. An old school, single car effort.

Know it ain't gonna happen. Wrote it anyway.
