Truck RACE thread --- Martinsville

I figured the youngsters would be pretty good. They have a lot of short track experience. 3 of them in the top 5

Dawson Cram (who withdrew from the race) is only 2 days older than me.
I'll have to get used to see drivers younger than me in the next years.

Dude, I just found out that a guy from my home of Meridian, MS by the name of Chase Purdy could possibly be racing in the Truck Series soon - and he is exactly seven months younger than me!

I can at least respect Johnny Sauter because he tried Cup and failed but Crafton seems content to just beat up on young kids.

Crafton's finishes in Xfinty are far and in between, but they are all pretty good.

He should have advanced, but like @bigspud said he is like the new Hornaday. Nothing wrong with that IMHO.

I don't see any problem with a guy who is satisfied with where they are and likes to race trucks. Two guys racing hard for a championship up front. I thought that is what racing is about.

Go Sauter. :D

He also did pretty well in the Daytona 500 when he subbed for Kyle Busch, especially given how little notice he had.

I like Crafton, I think he's a good driver and I'd like to see him get a real shot in Cup or Xfinity. Even Hornaday ran the Busch Series with RCR and DEI and did damn good both times. It's a shame that his only Cup chance was with AJ Foyt's terrible team because he could've done something with good equipment there too.

I also think that Johnny Sauter has improved since his last shot but the ship has probably sailed on that one.

Crafton from 2013
"My biggest deal is whatever I do, I want to be competitive," Crafton said. "I'm not going to lie. There's people that have called me, 'You're going to run a Cup car. You're going to run 25th or 43rd at best.' I don't want to do that. I don't care. I'm probably going to make more money, but I'm going to be a miserable S.O.B. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, just riding around like that. ...

"I'm getting the opportunity to do what I love to do -- race, be competitive, being able to win races and win a championship. I'm happy doing what I'm doing.
