Truck RACE thread --- Martinsville

I think they talked about short track laps led last night...but Busch and 97 is definitely wrong. He did join an elite group to lead 1000 laps in a season which Kyle is on but not from '97

Yes the 500 was just short track laps. But that’s even better imo considering it’s a smaller sample of the races, and truck ones don’t really have that many laps anyway.

That could have been one of the many records in the Trucks that Kyle Busch held. Heck if I know. Whatever, it's impressive and I think we haven't seen the end of what Christian Eckes is going to do in the Nascar series. Quality driver.

I'm not sure why. It looked like a textbook clean B&R to me.

I like Christian Eckes but it really wasn't. That was a full send on a driver who raced him clean.

Mark Martin nailed it. Respect is gone. Ethics are gone. Playoffs or not, these kids have been taught to win at any and all costs and that the ends always justify the means.

Used to be that, if someone raced you clean, you showed them the same respect.

Now, when someone races clean and passes another car, they just get shipped the next corner. Or if someone races another driver clean and settles for second, they'll be leading the next race over the other driver and still get wrecked. See it all the time in Late Models now.

Morals are gone.

Win at all costs.

the potential thought of getting punched in the face after the race used to keep things in check, now they're escorted by nascar bodyguards and team protectors, you have to come up with creative ways of dishing out repercussions like Stenhouse shorts stance. It's win at all costs, some come up with a cost, because right now there are no costs.

Eckes had a 3 second lead before the 5 of Dean Thompson decided to intentionally pile drive 2 cars into the wall to turn the race into a restart fest. So I can kind of see why Eckes full sent it for the win had the best truck but still is a little much when he could have done better to actually race Gray versus drive thru him.

What else are "these kids" supposed to do when we've been seeing that stuff and worse moves at the Cup level for like 15 years?

You really think the racing in the Cup Series is dirty compared to this? The Truck Series has been a ****show for a few years now.

I see it on the local level. Even in the 15 years I've been doing this. Drivers used to race hard and race clean. Now most Late Model races come down to guys just sending it.

Eckes booted Gray two lanes up the track, executed one pretty fair bump to force Rhodes to the second lane, and then drove straight through him in 3 and 4. Imo, there’s a distinction between what Gray did to Majeski a bit earlier, what Rhodes did to Eckes to initially take the lead, and how Eckes finished the race. But that depends quite a bit on how strict or liberal your interpretation of bump and runs is.

It got overshadowed by the rest of the finish but Dean Thompson loves to reinforce how much of a clown he is. He oughta be sat down by TRICON next week for doing that to his own teammate.
