Truck race?????

Now that was a race! It's too bad just about everybody got taken out, but it still came down to probably the two best of the night, and it'll most likely stand as the best race of the weekend.

I feel really good for Michael. I know people think this Earnhardt stuff is played out, but I think we can give Michael a pass tonight. Nice job.

Mikey wins by attrition! :beerbang:

Good point BobbyF...but lotsa guys have won races like that before...no way anybody can say this was rigged.

Was Mikey the best driver on the track tonight? - probably not. Did he get a bit lucky? Yep.

Did he win the race fair and square? Yep.

Cool. ;)

I thought she had more damage too. I was glad she finally got a good finish.

Congrats Mikey! 10 years to the day. Do you think that Tony Kornheiser is working on his opening monologue right now?

So..... What do you think they'll do about the spoiler? Kasey Kahne tweeting after the race, 'I need to figure out how to get my spoiler to fall off if that's legal. Wow'.

From NASCAR..... Official says "The spoiler broke. It appeared to be a failure on a part and we're going to look at it and make any determinations.'' Official confirms: "The victory will stand'' for Michael Waltrip

Standing guard.....

These new points will take a little getting used to.

I just watched the end of that race again. Only in restrictor plate racing can you be running 9th and take out the field from the 3rd position on back.

looks like everybody in this thread is buying into the NASCRAP VOODOO....What about the first 65ish laps with 1 lead change..NASCRAP is trying their best to ruin the trucks now too. From a racing perspective I think the race sucked overall...just my OPINION....

I've seen more lead changes by the clowns in the little cars at the 4th of July parade,,,just sayin'.

Good for Mikey though. A day that might ease the hurt.

Yeah...that was pretty weird. The one thing that annoyed me about the race was how everybody had to ride the inside line again. I'm pretty sure that is what caused the first 13 car wreck. Bodine was hung out to dry and the announcers kept saying that he was "side-drafting". From what I could see on TV it looked like he was just bashing into folks trying to make a hole to get down low. I don't really blame him (love the "onion") but that's probably why the tire was cut down.

As far as Mikey's spoiler - you drive through a golf ball sized hailstorm at 190 mph a few times it's unlikely you come out unscathed - heck, he was lucky to come out at all. Since he isn't running for the championship it doesn't really matter...neat for him to get another win at Daytona (likely his last).

It's only fitting that, even during a time when I have very few nice things to say about NASCAR, I'm almost the only one who thought it was a decent race last night. It wasn't perfect, and the mess that has become restrictor plate racing never will be, but wasn't it a heck of a lot better than the tandem trailer crap going on in Cup?

I only saw the last 2 laps and they were good. Congrats Mikey, great move. And your post race interview was heartfelt and moving.

I concur, should of left the plates alone on the trucks too, but wait we couldn't have the trucks showing up all the other divisions ....now could we?!:sarcasm:

Yes better, but they should of left the trucks alone, Nascar still had to tinker.

BTW....There were 23 lead changes in this race last year.....

They didn't change the plates on the trucks, only Cup.

Smaller?? Tapered spacer was changed on Thursday...here's a cut n paste from jayski

•NASCAR implements rule change to slow Daytona speeds: It was reported during SPEEDtv's final practice broadcast that NASCAR implemented a rules change for the Camping World Truck Series in an effort to slow them down. Trucks will be utilitizing a smaller, tapered spacer which results in loss of somewhere between 40-50 horsepower for the trucks.(2-17-2011)
