Truck Series

Your hate for Kyle is really refreshing, every single time I hear it.
It was kind of a worse case at Texas. You have a first time winner from a famous family that probably wouldn't have won if Kyle was racing, or just about any top ten cup driver. The competition/experience level is too far to be fair IMO. On the other hand in N'wide, there are usually a handful of cup drivers, and at least those few are evenly matched, and expected to do better, but they are racing a lot of x cup drivers also. Yeah there are a few x cup drivers in trucks, but they aren't that good where they are dominating in the trucks.

It looks lile Joey Logano is going to attempt to do double duty this weekend in Iowa and Pocono.

I doubt they'll practice the cup cars tonight so he should be able to manage it.

I'm looking forward to seeing the ratings from this primtime, under the lights, night race with only one cup regular - which isn't Kyle Busch, BTW.

Hell I hope so, wish they were eliminated every week, NNS and trucks.
I use to not care one way or the other, but I'm starting to like it better with out them. But, that's just looking out for my own selfish satisfaction.;)

I'm more inclined to follow the money. A team owner like Gibbs for instance runs four cars in N'wide. He really doesn't care if a cup or a full time wins..it all pays the same. Owner points the same way. Make the pay and owner points different for full time cup drivers, go ahead and pay the same, but make the cup driver split the money with the highest full time N'wide driver, so they win first place money and on down the line. The N'wide drivers wouldn't resent the cup drivers so much if their pocket books weren't emptied. And Team owners wouldn't flood the series with cup drivers if the money wasn't there. Sure there would be a few occasionally, but I bet it would dry up quite a bit.

I'm inclined to follow the money too , and the big money is in sponsorship . If a team can sign a big name sponsor who doesn't mind losing , great , but if they demand a big name driver behind the wheel , they get it .You can keep your prize money and your points , this is mainly about sponsors . No sponsors no show. A lot of Nationwide sponsors have move up to cup because they liked winning.

Question which transcends all 3 series - why do they have those cones sticking out of the catch fence?

Hope you were watching practice , carolinabuff , someone picked up on your question and the broadcast team spent fifteen minutes discussing it . But they missed why the orange cones were near the start / finish line , till Elliott Sadler texted them and told them that those cones mark the restart zone . Great question ,you should have gotten props from them on the broadcast .

that's the point. Without cup drivers beating up on the little guys, they would be winning for their sponsors. The ONLY teams served by this over done nonsense is the cup light teams with big budgets.

I actually agree with your concerns about competition/experience/bankroll....however your hate is misdirected toward Kyle when you use that for your argument.
Nascar makes the rules....that is where you should direct your vitriol.

This was during the 2nd practice session I take it? I watched most of the first session but missed the 2nd one, but that's funny that this same question came up. Thanks for the info.

Probably because Kyle is the main culprit by a mile. And, if you haven't noticed, we are bitching about the rules but, every time we say the system should be changed, people like you come in and say it's because we hate Kyle Busch. I said NASCAR needed to put a stop to it in 2006 when Harvick did it - it got out of control then and it's remained out of control.

Also, it's the Cup drivers running the series with Cup teams that's driven up the cost of the series. In case anyone hasn't been paying attention, that was Jack Roush's goal several years ago when NASCAR tried to cut costs in the Nationwide Series. He said back then when Carl was running full time that he was going to keep spending money and driving up the cost no matter what NASCAR did.

NASCAR needs new blood. Right now, they're relying on gimmick after gimmick to get new fans - but none of it is sustainable. Danica Patrick is not even a good racecar driver and her popularity bubble will burst in a matter of a year or two - just like it did in IndyCar ... and NASCAR's going to be in trouble because they'll lose all the fans who are watching solely because they want a woman to win and that'll be the same time guys like Mark Martin, Jeff Burton and Jeff Gordon contemplate their exit strategy.

Lets do something to spice up the trucks. If you are a full time cup driver, you start in the back one lap down with no lucky dog privileges, full time N'wides get a lap down with lucky dog. Oh yeah no practice or qualifying, off the trailer on to the track.
