Trucks @ Rockingham thread

So Hornaday doesn't like the rookies racing him hard - guess that says it all.

Yea, lets dump someone because he was racing me hard at the end of a race. What happened to these old drivers? Do they expect everyone to just pull aside for them?

Ron just proved he is no better than Kyle Busch:D

In Ronnies defense, He did say he felt like an idiot. The fact that he realizes he was wrong says alot. Still a dick move tough

It'd be fair. Harvick has been dealt those cards before as well.

Well I wanted Nascar to sit kyle a couple years ago, and I hope they do the same to Ron.

The difference is, Hornaday hasn't spent all year pissing off NASCAR. I'm not defending Hornaday but Kyle was suspended for a reason - he thought he was above NASCAR's rules. He got away with A LOT of stuff in 2011, stuff other drivers would've been suspended for in a heartbeat. NASCAR had to reign him in.

Do you or do you not think he should be parked?

I dont think Ron should be suspened.
They should score him as P36 or whatever the last position was, the lost points and prize money would hurt the team.
Maybe a 10k fine could be implemented (just 10k because it isnt the premier cup series).

This punishes the offender with far less consequces to needed sponsors. A last place scorecard also elevates the victim (Wallace) to finishing ahead of the offender.

Probation could be added to prevent repeat acts and the penalty for violating would be all of the above plus a suspension. But a suspension should be a last resort. It also hurts the sponsors and innocent employees for the team.

Darrell is part of Nascar's "drive for diversity"program. Hornady could have turned anybody else, but noooo he has to hit Bubba. I hope they are fair, Bubba did start it, but Hornady went over the top with it. He will get something I am sure of that, but it didn't have the speed or as much anger behind it as Kyle and him. Kyle after turning Hornady, tried to push him thru the wall, Ron just spun him and went on.

No. Points penalty and probation would suffice. I know Kyle's fans will cry foul but the circumstances are different. Kyle was a loose cannon who needed to be reigned in for the good of everybody. He was a menace. And NASCAR was letting him get away with A LOT of stuff.

If we go by previous precedents - Kyle Busch got a free pass for wrecking Kevin Harvick under caution in Darlington in 2011 and Marcos Ambrose got a free pass for wrecking Robby Gordon at Montreal in 2007 (in fact, Robby Gordon was penalized for that).

I hope that Nascar can maintain the right to handle each infraction on a case by case basis . I would hate to see them bound in every case to abide strictly to the exact penalty that was imposed in a past case . I wouldn't mind seeing a stronger penalty imposed ,or a lesser penalty imposed but I want Nascar to retain their right to rule on each case individually .

Agreed, but again, it's "Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't".

True. I think a good comparison would be NCAA repeat violator status.

I'm not sure what exactly Hornaday's penalty should be but I do feel that his actions should stand on their own volition. What Busch, Harvick, Earnhardt, Petty etc. have done is not an excuse. So can we please deal with what Hornaday has done and not steer the focus toward others who played no part in the events?

I think the punishment will be similar to Gordon's after Phoenix. A pretty significant amount of points, a fine, and probation.

Bubba just bumped into the side of Ron. Talk about overreaction.

You have to remember "thats RON HORNADY" legend in his own mind, and the father of truck racing, he doesn't loose, he lets others win. So what he wrecks his truck, it's not his anyway, and the youngster needed to be taught a lessono_O

The old guys are a bit like Rodney Dangerfield , they don't get any 'respect' . :D
