Hamilton’s tires seem to have come back in on last lap.

Once again everyone finished the race. This never happened between Zandvoort 1961 and Valencia 2011, now it happens several times a year. Crazy how reliable these cars are.

Nice to see Bottas finally win a race in 2021. Perez is finally back on the podium as well.

Hamilton is probably done listening to his engineer. This race could be the decider.

6 points in a close battle like this might just do it.

Did they switch Austin and Mexico around? I swear I saw that race as the next after Turkey.

I think Hamilton would have likely ended up where he finished whether he pitted or not on lap 51. If you model his lap times with Ocon's (who ran the whole race on 1 set) he was averaging about 1% better lap time throughout the race. Assuming that trend held relative to Ocon, Perez would have caught him on lap 54 with a -3.5 lap time advantage, so likely an easy pass. Leclerc would have caught him at the end of lap 55 with a -2.6 lap time advantage, and probably would have easily passed him with 3 laps to go.

Here's a quick little graphic, the Y axis is time relative to who is in 3rd.
