Martinsville on a Wednesday night. Thats cool. When things finally get back to normal midweek races should stay. Help get the season over faster and its nice to have a midweek event.
 
If my count is right 8 points races have been cancelled between Phoenix and now. They'll be making up 2 in the coming weeks at Darlington and Charlotte, then another with the midweek race at Martinsville. So that still leaves 5 mid-week races we can expect unless they decide to do some more doubleheader weekends like at Pocono.

Or dont make them up. They should just shorten the season

I anticipate Dover would be a double header as they don't have lights
 
“NASCAR released its next wave of races in the realigned 2020 schedule on Thursday, locking in the next five NASCAR Cup Series races that begin after the May 27 event at Charlotte Motor Speedway and go through mid-June.

Five NASCAR Xfinity Series events and two NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races were confirmed as well. All of these rescheduled events will be held without fans in attendance as restrictions and safeguards related to the coronavirus pandemic remain in effect.”

I love this post. I am so much more excited about this schedule than the previous one, to me this is the only positive to come out of current events happening. Like Martinsville on a Weds night, are you serious? How cool is that, I'll rush through work, stop at the store on the way home and fire up the grill for a mid week night race from one of the best tracks on the schedule. Count me in.

I think if they shortened the season by say..... 4 races and did mid week races (weds Night, maybe some Thursday) in the summer that would be real interesting to see in future versions of the schedule.

I’m not buying them yet haha. Also I’m pretty sure StubHub cannot well any counterfeit tickets. They’re pricey but legit.

I do feel bad for the employees there and at Ticketmaster. I don’t know how they’ll stay in business

In time, this could be a plausible temporary normal for events.

Somehow the most popular sport in the US gets by on a 20 week schedule.

If NASCAR eliminates 8-10 races (lets be real most current tracks dont deserve double dates) they’d be better off. The competition would be better because teams have to collect points in a shorter time period. The longer off season makes for a more desired on season.

Seriously I’m so disappointed we haven’t focused more on testing as a society. You have one side so hellbent on keeping things closed instead of coming up with solutions to be open and another doing the exact opposite

Counting pre-season, the NFL has 10-12 games in each of its venues, most of which are supported by public money. Excluding three Cup races each at Daytona and Charlotte, Cup tracks have one or two races each, expected to show a profit with no public support.

Another reason why comparisons to other sports don't work for auto racing (or golf).

I'm more than willing to let others be the guinea pigs for that. I'll stay on the sidelines for several weeks to see how the accuracy is and how many people get sick. I can eat those Roval tickets I've been paying for; I've taken bigger losses.

I hope they crash and burn like Stenhouse doing a Montoya imitation. I'm tired of e-scalpers vacuuming up tickets as soon as tickets go online with the intention of reselling at ridiculous mark-ups. Fornicate that feces. People who bought tickets actually intending to attend but have to change their plans have plenty of other options these days.

Sounds like this is an ISC and NASCAR funding their own product problem, not an outright schedule issue.

The most popular sports in the country found a better way to do it. Find an even better way or fall in line.

Tickets are sold at the price the market dictates.

In the real world, buy a beater ticket and move to a better seat. The stands are half full anyway. I’ve done it for years.

That works for racing, and I've done it. It doesn't work for everything.

As to market prices, any guesses why the venues don't charge higger prices themselves?
 
That Tuesday before the Martinsville race would have been a great opportunity to run the modifieds.

I’d rather see them not run the modifieds without fans able to attend...
There is no tv money like cup anyway...
Though there are rumors that the tour will be at Myrtle Beach on May 30, probably without fans allowed...

I thought MB was closing. Without paying fans, how can a local track afford to run any series?

No rules against gatherings in South Carolina. Just look at the beaches. We had a biker rally Saturday with easily over 1,500 people. Short tracks already running with fans social distancing encouraged. MBS will close at year's end.

Myrtle Beach will close August 18th. No fans allowed in the stands as of this writing. Florence Motor Speedway tried to run with Fans in the stands and Sherrif shut it down. Modifieds at Martinsville on a tuesday? No fans, no TV?

A lot of my fellow South Cackalakians are apparently less concerned about this contagion than I am. I'll just sit tight for a few more weeks.

On the main topic, NASCAR is about to weather test the current schedule. I wonder what track will benefit when these two races are dropped? Did anyone have a rain-out Bold Prediction?
