V-8 Supercars Bathurst 1000

Couple of questions for you leroy. Why do they run 2 races an any given weekend, and the other is when does your season run?

Will he Say Boogity Boogity Boogity Down Under?

•DW heads to Australia: Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and recent NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Darrell Waltrip headlines the SPEED broadcast team heading to Australia next month to cover the famed Bathurst 1000 from Mount Panorama in New South Wales, Australia on Oct. 8 at 7:00pm/et. Waltrip is joined by NASCAR on FOX boothmate Mike Joy and SPEED announcer Leigh Diffey, a native of Brisbane. Former racer Calvin Fish will work the pits on the 3.9-mile road course as racers compete for the Peter Brock Trophy.(SPEED)(10-5-2011)

OH NO, Please spare us.
Ozz:;)

I'm thinking that the play-by-play will be done from a studio in Bristol, CT with an on-site reporter - just like they do for Bob Varsha and the boys during F1 telecasts. Just a hunch.

Actually, Bristol, CT is ESPN's HQ, ain't it? The SPEED F1 Broadcast Studio is in Charlotte. I'll bet that's where the team will be situated.

And my guess for Ol' DW when the Green Flag Flies...

"Boogity Boogity Boogity! Let's Go Racing, Mates!"

Will Digger be a kangaroo instead of a gopher this time?

Diggaroo maybe?

Nope. DW and Mike Joy made the trip down. Been following them all week on Twitter. DW is supposed to be given a ride in one of those cars and will have video of it during the broadcast.

WOW! SPEED/FOX is spending some bucks!

Thanks for the info, MRM.

I wouldnt be supprised if V-8 Supercars paid for it. They have been looking to spread the racing offshore (raced in China, Bahrain, N.Z) and with a round in Texas in the future this is a way to have USA flavor on a Aussie series.

After all, you guys say that we talk funny, mabey Speed wants DW to run as interpretor.

Anyway guys, I hope that you enjoy it and keep an eye out for a street course race in about a month. Its on the Gold Coast (where I live) and its a great party week.... and great racing on a beach front street circuit.

Cheers mates.

Just finished watching the race held at Phillip Island. Pretty good racing and was exciting at times. But it's a shame the have regulated the cars to be so close. Just like NASCAR. Now I'm set to watch Bathurst. Sunday is a day off and so is Monday, so I'll have plenty of time to get caught up on my sleep.

My question after watch my first V8 Supercars race is this...will Holden dominate over Ford like they did at Phillip Island. Things don't look too even to me. Is Holden getting a little help from the sanctioning body? :D

Hi again, Regarding Holdens getting help from Governing body,No I don't agree with that although some Ford fans would. The Vodafone Holdens that "seem" to dominate are put together by a group called Triple 8 racing who are similar to your Hendrick Motor sports. They build cars & engines for others teams etc & always have that small devellopment edge over others including "other'' Holdens.Looks like we might be in for a damp race so watch out for a couple of Kiwi drivers in Fords. That will even the score out I feel.
Cheers from Ozz

Are the Fords allowed a 12 inch tire vs 11 inch for the Holden? That should be a big advantage.

I sure love my Holden...I mean Pontiac.

Nice Lookin' GTO, Mate!

MMmmm Thats a Pontiac G8, note it has FOUR doors like the Commodores. I believe 2007 was the last year of the GTO?

The New Chevrolet Camaro carries over many of the design features of the GTO/Holden especially the suspension and driveline, it's also much lighter and better balanced.
Plus it's Built in America!

Looks like a Holden's on the Pole!

BATHURST, Australia (AP)—New Zealander Greg Murphy has taken pole position for Sunday’s Bathurst 1,000, Australia’s most prized and prestigious touring car race.

Murphy, a four-time winner of the 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) race, clocked a time of 2 minutes, 08.8009 in his Holden on his second lap around the 6.2-kilometer (3.8-mile) Mount Panorama circuit. Will Davison, in a Ford, took second spot on the grid while defending champion Craig Lowndes, driving a Holden, will start in third.

The winner of the race will be presented with the Peter Brock Trophy, named after the retired nine-time winner of the endurance race who died at age 61 in 2006 following a crash in a rally.

Time to get serious.....

Some pictures of some supercar trophy queens would be nice.

Fast cars and hot women the most important things in life.

And they weasled away Whincup and Lowndes from Ford. Rooting for Mark Winterbotttom here.

I think you'll find Lowndes learnt to box in the Red corner.

Should be a good race all the same.
Cheers

Wish the folks from down under were here to get their take on it.

We're here,
The racing has been a bit dull so far, as the years go by, the teams & the cars become more unbreakable and with less excitement.Watch out with 30 or 40 laps to go.
Must admit, I do enjoy cup racing more these days.Hows that from an Ozzie.
Here comes Lowndes & Skaife.
Cheers Ozz:)

Thats why I've been watching badly packaged Supercar races. I'm bored with NASCAR. I should be home for the last 35 laps or so so I can watch it.

Great finish, kinda hoped they'd take each other out for Murph but oh well cool race:beerbang:
