Congrats to Jeff Gordon. Too bad he couldn't have won if that POS good for nuthin Joe Nemechek didn't give him a hand. Poor excuse for racing if ya ask me. Joe, you can kiss my arse and Jeffy boy, don't think it's all done.

I was a bit POed at Joe, too. But, at Bristol, you have to deal with lapped traffic, that's a given.

And, short track, Saturday night is most certainly not a gentlemen's sport. LOL

Yeah, I noticed Nemechek playing Waltrip too. Jeff had a real good car at Bristol though. He would have been tough to beat. I was pulling for Rusty too.

I dont think joe was blocking for jeff, heck if you watched the whole race at one point micheal waltrip was blocking jr and jr was bumping him trying to get him to move out the way, and they are teammates thats just how bristol is. Earlier in the race when jr passed gordon again john andretti was holding gordon up and allowed them to catch right back on his tail. It was like that all day I dont think joe being jeffs teamate had anything to do with it.

I have two bigtime complaints about the finish.

First, Jeff didn't catch Rusty about 10 or 15 laps earlier.

Second, Rusty could not get back to Jeff after the pass!!

One other thought entered my mind when Rusty caught up to Joe,. Would it have been possible for Rusty to move outside and hold Joe close and slow on the inside? Would have been a touch risky cause Joe might have run him up the track, but if Rusty made it work he might have come out with a length or two on Jeff.

lapped cars and cars rusty passed alowed jeff to catch up to him and do the bump and run from what I saw

Jeff bumped him which made his car wiggle and allowed jeff to pass him but it also gave rusty the time to catch back up to him and take the lead.I dont know why rusty didn't catch back up to him though, but the last few laps before jeff passed rusty it looked like they were going the same speed to me and I think the anouncer said something about jeff was hanging with him but didnt have enough to pass.

From what I saw, it lookedl ike Rusty was a bit rattled after the bump. It appeared he was overdriving the car. Another 5 laps and I think Gordo would have been in trouble.

Jeff could get away from Rusty all night once he got around him so I doubt that Rusty would have run him down in clean air. But that's Bristol and there is no such thing as clean air.

I know I gained a whole lot of respect for Rusty after the race. He never said one thing bad about the move and went on about his buisness. Some of the "young guns" can learn a lesson from Rusty on how to control your temper. Good job Rusty.

Well, Rusty knows what he did to HarYuck to get the lead too. Rusty getting in Jeff's face about the bump would have been a touch hypocritical. I posted this elsewhere, but it bears a rerun here. Rusty, Jeff, Bill, DJ, drivers with the experience know exactly where to "tap" in a turn so the lead car doesn't necessarily wreck, just can't get on the gas when they want to, thus allowing the "tapper" to go past the "tappee". Some of the young'uns could take a lesson. The move Jeff pulled would not anger Rusty, as he never put Rusty in danger of wrecking thus ruining a great finish. I won't name names budweiser but others have yet to master the art of finesse chrome horning.

:leap: It looked to me that the 25 moved up and rusty had room to get by. It seems at that point Jeff just had the faster car. now that my opion.
