Vickers likely signing to drive the 55 in 2014

Good for him.

So what will become of his Nationwide ride at JGR? I would imagine juggling Cup and Nationwide series would be quite exhausting.

He's better off with MWR than he was with DEI/EGR.
If going to work for MVR does for him what it did for Boyer. 4 races this year with MWR, 1 win, a 13th, and two crashes 31, 32. that comes out to an average finish of 19.25. Average finish for 272 races is 20.3. IDK maybe he and Rodney Childers can come up with something.

Are you being sarcastic?.....lol

No. Only reason I said poor Sadler is because he first had a crack at the 55. If it wasn't for his old boss, someone he doesn't race for anymore, he would have been the part time racer in the 55 not Vickers. So I say that as I am sure Sadler is thinking to himself "what could have been." Not saying he would have been as successful as Vickers in the 55, just that he had first crack at the seat and it was shot down by RCR. That is all.

I am so sick of everyone talking about Elliott Sadler deserving a shot. The man had one good season in his entire Cup career. And that one good season wasn't even all that stellar when you compare it to breakout seasons from drivers like Kasey Kahne. He's a nice guy but there's a reason he has never been and will never be the first option.

Agreed. Sadler is lucky hes well liked or he wouldnt have the gibbs nationwide ride

IMO Vickers has had bad luck this season -- he was running top 15 at Watkins Glen beofre getting wrecked, same with Richmond, etc. He will kick serious ass in the 55 next year.

Sadler's time has come and gone, I'm afraid. However, he's done no less than Vickers has and before we start throwing bad luck around - who had the HMS equipment?

Vickers will likely do okay at MWR and I'm all for keeping Waltrip out of car but will he actually contend for a title - that's a long shot.

MWR just announced that Vickers will take over the #55 in 2014. So, I guess it's officially official.

Aaron's will back all races in 2014 & 2015. Two year extension.

I meant Truex.

Vickers will do well too.

Say what you want about Michael Waltrip but to wrap up a 2-year contract with a major sponsor is quite a feat these days. Just ask HMS.
Mikey knows how to deal, it was obvious when he took on that financial partner a few years back that he was pretty serious about becoming a top owner in the Cup series.

In almost 150 less cup races, Vickers has same amount of wins, six more top fives and four less top tens then Sadler. With Vickers having a better avg. finish.

Plus, Vickers is 8 years Younger. This is his last shot but I'd say he deserves more then Sadler.

Good for Vickers, I think he'll do fairly well but I'm not sure that he'll be contending for any championships any time soon. If they lose Childers to SHR as was rumored a few weeks ago, they'll be in big trouble. I just can't help but think with the Aaron's sponsorship, they might have been able to attract a true top notch driver especially given the recent performance of Bowyer and Truex.

Like who? I would say Kurt Busch is the only top flight driver that might be on the move next year and Aaron's might not want to touch him.

Kurt would be crazy to move anywhere , he has a top ten car with a top ten crew chief. The only big name driver on the move is Newman.

Just my opinion but Vickers will be a mid packer next year and thats about it. The potential is there to run well and win but I dont think it will be a regular event.

Who said he deserved a shot?

I'm happy for Vickers.. His whole career he's been thrown obstacles and overcame it all, I dont expect him to be any better or worse then the other MWR guys... probably wont be in the chase but probably will be in the wild card hunt, throw in a fuel mileage or rain win he will have a solid season

I'm with you on his expectations. I hope MWR laid back way of doing things will help him. I think most of his problems came from too much pressure on him and he tried to make things happen and wrecked a lot. If he quits beating himself, I can see a top 15 or even a top 10 ish pretty easily.

And , he has the advantage of previous experience with a top notch crew and crew chief . It should be a much easier transition than say, Matt Kenseth's was.

I think Vicker's health problems came from too much stress, I can only imagine what the drivers meetings will be like at MVR with Boyer and Truex a couple of funny knuckleheads for sure.

I've never been a Vickers fan. Still not, but it is a cool story that he's gone what he's gone through to come back and be named a driver for one of the top organizations. Go ahead and trash MWR if you like but it really doesn't change that they've come a long way in a relatively short period of time.

MWR , Furniture Row , and now Turner Scott , the future is looking brighter .

He should fit right in with this organization, I expect he will get a win or two.

is their anywhere to find ou tcontract statuses? not the salary but the years left for the drivers. I always wonder about that stuff
