http://jayski.thatsracin.com/ is reporting that Ward Burton might probably be in the 30 AOL Chevy in 2004. Though it hasnt been actually confirmed, other candidates for the 30 AOL Chevy include J.J Yeley, CART driver Paul Tracy or re-signing with Steve Park who is the current driver of the AOL Chevy.

As for Bill Davis Racing, Scott Wimmer might replace Ward in the 22 CAT Dodge in 2004.

Man I would really like to see Ward in the 30. My i1st and 2nd favorite drivers all on the same team. That would be cool

Not only that, Kerry Earnhardt could be in the 03 for RCR in a Busch race and John Andretti will be in the 30 at Talladega.

Ok, so Kerry Earnhardt might move to Winston(or should I say Nextel?) and Ward Burton will be driving the 30 car for DEI? If so then the whole family will be DEI fans, lol (well me and the mom). Is that what ya'll are saying? But I thought in another post it was Andretti for the 30 car?

I got it now, lol I got confussed because Park did drive for DEI. But Im back on track now. Thanks

There is a chance that Ward could possibly still go to the #1 car too...

I love ward, I like to hear him talk. Did you see him on Dateline tonight talking about leaving Darlington? I missed it but Im sure it got taped. I hope ward goes to the #1 team.

I sure hope Ward can go to the 1. Most likely, the guy who is heading to the 1 for 2004 is Scott Riggs.

Why Riggs? Is he the one leading the points in the busch series?

Ok I was making sure. I dont really watch the busch series but Ive started. I take it he's a good choice(well leading the points he must be)? I hope they pick someone that can get them a championship or something.

I want Ward to go to the #1 car 1st, then the #30 is a second priority, then probably, I guess that ol' CAT #22 CAT DODGE, no matter what, I am sticking with him!!

If I owned DEI, I would axe the #1 team, and use the money to fund Jr/Waltrip better. Both of them are in the top10 in points, and are both championship caliber teams. The #1 car aint worth a crap anymore.

I think DEI should consider dissolving the 1 team as well. We havent seen anything special from the 1 since Steve Park won in 2001. I dont think we'll see anything prolific from the 1 team anymore unless drastic measures are taken to help them improve, they havent finished in the top 5 in a while.

I dont know where they went wrong, back in 2000 to mid 2001 they were the best team of DEI and now they're even struggling to maintain a lead-lap position. I think it all went wrong when Steve Park got injured or when Paul Andrews left the team.

Thats what I was thinking as I read your post Happy, about Parks. I liked Parks, he had a good attitude it seemed. But it's all about winning and money so they had to do what they had to do. But I hope they get Ward aboard the #1 team, he'd be a great contributer to DEI.

If they got Ward, I know that they SHOULD win many races!!! Ward wins one every now, and then in his pretty crappy equipment...I hate to say that...:(...think what he would do with good equipment. Same thing with when he finished in the top 10 in points 2 years in a row...:)

I think Ward Burton will have a great shot at his second Daytona 500 and his first championship if or when he goes to RCR. We've seen Richard Childress equalize all his emphasis between the 29, 30 and 31 teams and all three are knocking in top 5s, top 10s and top 15s every week.

Yup with his skill and DEI he could do something big. I can see it now, Ward, Jr, Micheal top 3 in points :p lol But I hope they get him.

Well lets take a look...hes 14th....

BTW, how many times has Jr won a race thats not using a plate??

....how bout a MPD?

Ol Bill is moving right on up thru there! Back in March.. he was way down in the 30s in the points, now he's 14th! Pretty big comeback if ya ask me, and I dont think he's finished yet. I see a top10 points finish for him.

I like Bill Elliott, always have. Ya never hear him bitch, whine, or complain about anything. He gets in the car, drives the wheels off of it, and calls it a day.

Jr has 3 non-restrictor plated victories, his most recent non-rp'd victory was at Dover in 2001.

I couldn't have said it any better myself Slick nick.

If only Nascar were like it was in the ol days....when thats all you could do was drive the wheels off your car, and that was all that mattered.

I like Elliot. He's got a great attitude, the older ones seem to.

Damn right Awesome_Bill, damn right...

I watch all these classic races from the past, and its nothing like it is today. The NASCAR world today is very competitive, dont get me wrong.. just doesn't and never will compare to the good ol days. Bill's first Million Dollar Win, Dale's Pass in the Grass, Kulwicki's 1992 championship comeback, ahhhhh.... wasn't it great?

Every time I watch a race nowdays, its never even close to the ol days. This sport and these cars have evolved so much in the past 10 years that its almost like the CAR is winning the race, not the driver. It seems like the regular day guy could hop in and compete with the best of em. Back in the day, if you werent one hell of a driver, there would be no chance for you in the series or in any race. O the good ol days, when it was only the driver that mattered.

Well as the world changed so did the racing world. Maybe it was better, Ive never really watched races that far back. Heck you know it was cheaper, lol

The only race that brings back a little of the past would have to be the Spring Darlington race from this year. Busch and Craven.. now that was some racing.

I say if you could take some drivers back to the past to 're-live' it, I dont think most of them would survive. Harvick is very aggressive, and calculated.. so he'd survive. So would Kurt Busch, and a few others who dont come to mind right now.

Whats your take on that?

O but it wasnt cheaper...every cent these guys made went right back into their cars and team. Today with Big Sponsor deals, TV money, and huge race purses, its much much more profitable. Yes it was "cheaper" for them to prepare the cars, but in a sense it was a losing situation....

huh, good question. Maybe, Martin
Well yeah but I meant for the fans.

Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch would definitely survive if they were thrown back into the old days of NASCAR.

Most of todays drivers would never surive back in the good ol days, espicially before power steering. Yeah Harvick would definetely be one of the greats if he was racing back in the 80s and early 90s mainly because of his aggesive and very forward driving style. A guy who would have never survived is Jeff Gordon. Hes just not like an old time racer in any aspect. These young guns, Newman, Johnson etc, ...the same goes for them.

Of course its very hard to tell who would and wouldnt survive because we could never know how these guys would do in a different driving era. Some might adapt to it, and some wouldnt. One thing for sure tho, is that its very hard to go from a style you've raced all you life to one that is totally diffent. WOW would I love to see these cars change to be as they were in the ol days, when downforce and aerodynamics played much less of a role as they do today...

Yeah, Aerodynamics is a biggie in racing these days.

I wouldn't say never about Ryan Newman though, he drove and won Dover without Power Steering. He's a tough SOB behind that wheel.
