Was the Truck race that bad?

When the ONLY 'excitement' comes from lapped traffic, you know you should have stayed home.

Y'all are so jaded. If the race doesn't include a last-lap dash to a photo-finish, it's a waste of your time. Seriously, there was plenty of good racing in the Truck Race. The fact that two drivers ran away from the field is only PART of the story. JEEZ!

I enjoyed the race!

I know we've come to expect more from the truck series races but this one was definitely a snoozer - which, IMO, is rare for the trucks.

I, however, did not. To each their own.

I'm sure Dillon got some pretty good knowledge from following Kyle today. He give Kyle a good run for his money. I thought he was going to pass him a couple of times. You just can't buy knowledge like that.

Same results here as on Facebook, Kyle fans thought it was great and everyone else thought it sucked.

Glad a guy stepping down two divisions in far superior equipment and (not surprisingly) winning races is exciting to some of you, you're the reason NASCAR's going the way of the dinosaur.

at least Newman blew up in the modified race.

Really?? It wouldn't have mattered to me had Harvick or Dillon won the race (and I am a Pee Wee Fan). My opinion would have been the same either way. There was a lot of action and some great side-by-side racing throughout the event! It's not just about who takes the checkered flag and by what margin.

I would counter by saying that your dislike of the winner has influenced your viewpoint.

Pretty uneventful race in my eyes. One could smell that first debris caution a mile away.

To be fair, though, it took me less than 30 mins to watch it as I scanned through most of it from the dvr recorded list. However, like some have stated already, the CWTS races are usually action-packed. Just, imo, a rare exception here.

I havn't seen anyone on here that was excited about Kyle winning. So I have to wonder why you would make that statement.

Just another method of discarding a win by Kyle. Claim the race sucked, blahblah.

For the record, I did not watch the race, so I don't know if it sucked as a whole or not. It's never a bad race when KB wins though :) :beerbang::beerbang:

I don't know what planet you spend most of your time, but I've called races boring even when my guy won. Hell, I can't stand it that my guy also double dips every weekend.

So what is KYLE'S operating budget compared to others??? You have no clue, until you post what HIS budget is you are ASSuming. How do you know he has FAR SUPERIOR equipment? Can you compare what he has VS someone else?

Planet Earth, Mang!! :D:D

I just find it disturbing that some discount the quality of a race simply because one or two drivers dominate. Winning a race is important but it's not the only reason that racers race. The performances of Busch and Dillon do not discount, or render unimportant, the effort put out by the rest of the field to get their best possible finish. I thought that SPEED did a credible job of showing what was going on further back in the pack. And there was a LOT going on in the pack all race long. I was not bored...

You must be the type of person that watches a tree grow and doesn't think that is boring. How is the results of the "rest of the field" exciting when most of them were a lap or more behind? How many finished on the lead lap? Wasn't it like 6 or 7? THAT IS A BORING EFFING RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Kyle was sitting in that tree robbybee would be happier than an old man after having his Viagra refilled.

Now THAT'S funny, Mike!! :D

Seriously, KG, I don't watch racing just to see who won and by how much. Just like I don't watch racing for the wrecks. Every driver who finished that race was giving 100% effort while out there on the track. I celebrate the efforts of guys like James Buescher who came in to today's race with the points lead and leaves with a 2-point deficit to young Mr. Dillon. I watch to see how well Todd Bodine will do after the mid-season shake-up in his team. I watch to see if Ron Hornaday can work his way back into championship contention. I watch to see if rookies such as Cole Whitt and Joey Colter can continue their incredible rookie seasons.

There is soooo much more to racing than just paying attention to who made it to Victory Lane.

You still didn't explain how it was not a boring race. That's because you KNOW it was a boring race. And if you think every driver gives 100% then you are seriously a rookie fan. All drivers admit they don't give 100% unless they are in contention for the win. If you're a NASCAR fan you should have known this.

It wasn't a great race, that's going to happen sometime.
Just don't reconfigure racing. Apart from staging or rigging, some will naturally fall through the cracks.

All you can do is set up good conditions, that encourage good racing. Even then sometimes the chemistry just don't materialize.

But wisdom writes off or understands this is part of the deal. If you have followed racing, the big top 3 divisions, or your local tracks you have seen the cycles work.
Some days are like today, somedays are real late race dramas, take the good with bad.
It will be alright.

There's a near equal amount which find the quality of the race is increase to a 10+ simply for the exact same reason and I suspect that there are some that find that equally disturbing.

I agree. Those are the same reasons why I watch Cup and NW races. I don't really follow the drivers in the truck series anymore, so I didn't find the truck race interesting. I do like some excitement in a race, and there just wasn't any Saturday.

And I agree with some of the sentiments above, I loved the Trucks when they raced on bullrings. The Truck races aren't that good anymore, and they're as predictable as a sorry horror movie.

I don't know what to say, KG. Opinions are like a-holes, I guess. I thought the Truck race was quite entertaining. You didn't. I think that Plate Races are a joke. You prolly love them, seeing as how you like big scary crashes and all.

And as far as the giving 100% thing, I would tend to agree with that in a 500 mile race at a track like Michigan or Fontucky (which are now all 400 milers, I believe) or maybe even INDY and/or Pocono that most drivers rest occasionally during the middle stages. But in the case of a 175 lap sprint race (not Sprint Cup) on a 1-mile oval, as the Truck Race was, I seriously doubt that any of these athletes were loafing.

BTW, I have been watching NASCAR since before many on this forum were even born! ;)

My mother has been driving since before I was born and actually for over 50 years...I challenge you to drive 5 miles with her and not want to jump from the vehicle at 60mph.

My step-father was like that. My Mom and I both refused to ride with him. He wouldn't listen to me when I told him he was a danger to himself and others. His own son had to take his keys away. My 82 year-old Mother is still a very good driver! And I have had my license for over 40 years now...

Damn, I am OLD!!! :D:D Let's hear it for the Old Farts, eh?? :beerbang:
