Was this what decided the championship?

Nope. The gap would change a little tiny bit and they would report on it, but I never saw it go below one second. I think the final margin was 1.3 seconds.

Carl did get within .93 seconds with about 20 to go, but then started over driving the car, as noted by the talking heads in the booth. When they came up on lap traffic, Carl lost even more to Tony, most of it to Bliss and the guy he was racing.

Bottom line. He still lost. Happy Thanksgiving. :D

I believe it was because Tony took 4 and Osborne gave Carl only 2.

More than anything else, I believe this. I was rooting for Tony, but beating newer tires is hard for anybody to do.

Tony deserves credit for racing hard and to win. But I wouldn't fault Carl's Miami effort, he led a lot. If I was going to point out a Carl fault, it would be for cruising at Talladaga, and Martinsville, but not Miami.

I remember seeing the gap down to like .93 seconds when Tony was passing a lapped car but that was only for a few seconds. Yeah, Carl could never close the gap.
